Organisation: Dorset Golf
Location: Home-based or designated office, with travel across Dorset
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: £22,000 – £27,000 (commensurate with experience)
Reports to: Operations Director

1. Role Purpose
The Assistant Operations Manager will play a key role in supporting the delivery of Dorset Golf’s strategic and operational objectives. The role focuses on enhancing opportunities for elite golfers, promoting the development of golf across all ages and abilities, supporting affiliated Dorset Golf clubs, and ensuring the successful organisation and promotion of tournaments, championships, and events.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, committed operational team and contribute directly to the growth, professionalism, and visibility of golf across the county.

2. Key Responsibilities
2.1 Player & Pathway Development
• Support the planning and delivery of programmes for elite golfers within Dorset.
• Assist with the coordination of coaching pathways, performance squads, and talent development initiatives.
• Maintain strong relationships with coaches, volunteers, and performance partners.
2.2 Club Support & Engagement
• Provide support to affiliated Dorset Golf clubs, responding to queries and offering guidance where appropriate.
• Assist with the coordination of club visits, meetings, and development initiatives.
• Help maintain positive, collaborative relationships with club managers, committees, and volunteers.
2.3 Competitions, Tournaments & Events
• Support the planning, administration, and delivery of Dorset Golf tournaments, championships, and county events.
• Assist with event logistics, including venue coordination, start sheets, scoring, results, and prize presentations.
• Promote events through digital channels, ensuring high levels of engagement and visibility.
2.4 Communications & Digital Management
• Contribute to Dorset Golf’s communications strategy, including website updates, newsletters, and social media content.
• Use social media effectively to promote Dorset Golf activities, achievements, and opportunities.
• Support the management of Intelligent Golf software and website content (training can be provided).
2.5 Administration & Operational Support
• Provide general administrative support to the Operations Director and wider team.
• Assist with document preparation, data management, and reporting.
• Maintain accurate records, audit trails, and operational documentation.
• Support the delivery of Dorset Golf’s strategic plan and associated projects.
2.6 Representation & Engagement
• Represent Dorset Golf professionally at events, meetings, and club visits.
• Build strong working relationships with volunteers, officials, clubs, and county partners.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and forward‑thinking organisational culture.

3. Person Specification
Essential Skills & Qualities
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent understanding of golf, its structures, rules, and culture.
• Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing, positive approach.
• Highly organised with strong administrative ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Strong understanding of social media and its use in promoting organisations and events.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support events and competitions.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Desirable
• Experience using Intelligent Golf software and website tools.
• Experience working in sport administration, club management, or event delivery.
• Knowledge of county or regional golf structures.
• Interest in professional development; potential for GCMA Diploma (or similar) to be included in the package.

4. Working Arrangements
• The role may be based from home or a designated Dorset Golf office.
• Travel across Dorset will be required for events, club support, and meetings.
• Business mileage allowance provided.
