Job Description
Role Purpose

The Digital Media & Communications Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Coventry Rugby’s digital media, communications and content activity.

The role will cover social media, website and email communications, press and media relations, matchday media, content production, brand management and digital support for commercial partnerships.

The role will work closely with the first-team squad and management, commercial team, Community Foundation, academy, events team, external media, photographers, videographers and commercial partners.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Digital Content

Manage Coventry Rugby’s social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, X and other relevant platforms.
Develop and maintain an annual and seasonal content calendar.
Plan content themes and campaigns across the club’s digital channels.
Write, produce and publish social media content.
Monitor social media performance, audience engagement and platform trends.
Use social media analytics and audience data to inform content planning and reporting.
Identify opportunities to develop the club’s presence on new and emerging digital platforms.
Manage the club’s day-to-day digital communications activity.

Website & Email Marketing

Manage and update the Coventry Rugby website.
Write, edit and upload news, features, match previews, match reports, interviews and other website content.
Maintain fixtures, results, squad and player information.
Manage website content relating to ticketing, merchandise, events, sponsorship and other commercial activity.
Monitor website traffic and performance.
Support website SEO activity.
Liaise with website developers and external agencies where required.
Manage email marketing activity, including newsletters and promotional campaigns.
Monitor email campaign performance and provide relevant reporting.

Matchday Media

Manage Coventry Rugby’s matchday digital media activity.
Produce live match updates and in-game social media content.
Produce and publish match previews and reports.
Coordinate player and coaching staff interviews before and after matches.
Coordinate matchday photography and videography.
Coordinate media access for journalists, photographers and broadcasters.
Work with visiting media and broadcasters on matchday requirements.
Ensure post-match interviews, photographs, video and other content are produced and published promptly.
Ensure matchday media activity complies with relevant Championship Rugby requirements.

Press & Media Relations

Manage day-to-day press and media enquiries.
Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional and national media.
Prepare and distribute press releases, statements and other media communications.
Arrange player and coaching staff interviews and media appearances.
Coordinate appearances across radio, newspapers, online publications and broadcast media.
Prepare players and staff for media activity where required.
Coordinate media activity around club announcements, fixtures, events and campaigns.
Support the club with reactive media communications when required.
Commercial Partnerships & Sponsorship
Support sponsorship and partnership activity from announcement through to campaign implementation.
Work with the commercial team to deliver agreed media and digital activations for sponsors and partners.
Produce digital and social media content for commercial campaigns.
Coordinate sponsor and partner content across the club’s digital channels.
Support merchandise, ticketing and event promotion through digital media.
Identify opportunities to generate commercial value through the club’s digital platforms.

Brand Management

Manage the application of the Coventry Rugby brand across club communications and digital channels.
Ensure consistent use of club branding across social media, website, email, media and promotional content.
Support brand implementation across the first team, Community Foundation, academy and events.
Work with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure brand guidelines are followed.

Content Production

Produce photography and video content for the club’s digital and communications channels.
Film and edit video content for social media, website, email and commercial campaigns.
Photograph matches, training sessions, events, community activity and other club activities.
Produce graphics and other visual assets for digital and promotional use.
Use Adobe Creative Cloud software for video editing, photography and graphic design.
Operate photography and video camera equipment.
Coordinate the work of freelance photographers, videographers and other creative suppliers.
Maintain a programme of photography and video content throughout the season and off-season.

Club Communications

Promote Coventry Rugby matches, events, community activity, academy activity and other club initiatives.
Work with the Community Foundation, academy, commercial and events teams to coordinate communications.
Keep relevant staff informed of key club announcements and communications activity.
Coordinate communications across different areas of the club to ensure information is accurate and consistent.
Support internal communications relating to major club announcements and campaigns.

Person Specification

Essential Experience

Experience working in digital media, communications, marketing, journalism, PR or a related role.
Professional experience managing social media channels.
Experience producing written digital content.
Experience producing photography and video content.
Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud software.
Experience using professional photography and video equipment.
Experience managing website content.
Experience using email marketing platforms.
Experience monitoring and reporting on digital and social media performance.
Experience working with external media organisations.
Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Experience working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Working Requirements

This is a full-time position based at Coventry Rugby.
The role will involve working across the club’s day-to-day operations, including training, fixtures, events, community activity and other club activities.

The role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends and matchdays as part of the club’s annual playing and events schedule.

The role will involve regular interaction with players, coaching staff, club employees, commercial partners, media and external suppliers.
