National Training Centre Facilities Assistant Organisation British Rowing Salary £28-32,000 Location Caversham, Reading Contract type Permanent (Full time) Closing date 24 May 2026 Job Description The RoleThe NTC Facilities Assistant is responsible for a wide range of operational, maintenance, and safety tasks across the boathouse and lake site. Working as part of the Caversham resources team, the post‑holder will help ensure the National Training Centre operates efficiently and safely, supporting the daily needs of athletes, coaches, and staff.Key elements of the role include boathouse support, site and lake maintenance, safety cover, and assistance with GB Rowing Team assessments and trials.Key ResponsibilitiesBoathouse OperationsSupport the NTC Facilities & Equipment Lead in maintaining the boathouse and equipment.Assist with movement of boats and equipment.Provide safety cover (training provided), including:On‑water launch safety coverFirst AidFire Warden dutiesCarry out site security tasks, including opening and closing the facility.Monitor fuel levels for launches and tractors.Undertake small maintenance tasks, basic repairs, and general indoor upkeep.Site & Lake MaintenanceSupport the upkeep of a world‑class rowing lake through:Weed management, including preventative dyeing and aquatic weed cuttingCleaning and alignment of course buoys, cables, and pontoonsMowing, hedge cutting, weeding, sweeping, and general grounds maintenanceEvent & Operational SupportAssist with GBRT assessments and trials, particularly those held at Caversham.Transport boats to domestic and international locations as required.About YouEssentialPride in maintaining high standards across all tasksStrong team ethos and a collaborative, “muck in” attitudeReliable, self‑motivated, and proactive in problem‑solvingComfortable working outdoors in all weather conditionsAble to work independently and adapt to changing prioritiesFull UK driving licenceDesirableTrailer‑driving experienceExperience or willingness to train in:Tractor driving / hedge trimmingAquatic weed cutter operationLaunch driving (RYA Level 2)Additional InformationThe role requires flexibility, including some evening, weekend, and public‑holiday working.
