Job Description
British Olympic Association and Team GB
Team GB is the British and Northern Irish Olympic team – one of the nation’s most successful teams and one of its favourite brands. Run by the British Olympic Association (BOA), Team GB competes at Olympic and Olympic Winter Games and other events such as the European Games, Youth Olympic Games and European Youth Olympic Festivals.

The BOA’s primary purpose is to:
• Select, lead and manage Team GB at Olympic and Olympic Winter Games and all International Olympic Committee (IOC) and European Olympic Committee (EOC) accredited events such as Youth Olympic Games, European Youth Olympic Festivals and the European Games, and;
• Develop the Olympic Movement and promote the principles and values of Olympism in our territory of responsibility.

The Role
This role will deliver on the strategic aim to ‘Create a World Class Games Environment that maximises the achievement of a PB when it matters most’. This is a strategic leadership role that also requires direct ownership of detailed Games planning, programme management and operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the design, detailed planning, and implementation of each Games framework, from concept, through to Games-time operational delivery and then post-Games reporting.
• Ensure appropriate tools are in place to support effective integrated cross-functional Games planning, project groups and reporting.
• Own centralised tracking of all Games-related risks and issues, and where necessary, identify and implement mitigation strategies
• Personally develop, maintain, and oversee integrated Games plans, ensuring dependencies, timelines, milestones, and critical paths are clearly understood and actively managed
• Support project leads to develop and track the status of their project plans and check and challenge approaches and timeframes, where relevant.
• Lead the development of Games-time Crisis and Incident Management Plans
• Design and implement a venue planning process and framework for all facilities and sites that fall in the BOA footprint
• Lead a centralised and delegation wide Readiness programme, including scenario planning, readiness exercises, and robust reporting between and during Games.
• During Games time, lead on the development and operation of the Games HQ Operations Centre.
• Provide direction on post games reporting, ensuring that lessons learned are identified and embedded into future plans.
• Set the strategic direction for Games workforce planning, ensuring alignment to organisational priorities, performance ambitions, and Games-time demands
• Lead the development of scalable staffing models and deployment strategies across multiple sports and environments
• Own the workforce operating model for Games environments, including structures, governance, decision-making frameworks, and ways of working
• Oversee workforce risk management, including scenario planning, contingency strategies, and critical issue resolution
• Provide senior oversight of workforce systems and data, ensuring accuracy, insight, and effective decision-making
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, safeguarding, and wider organisational policies
• Lead, coach, and develop the Games Workforce Manager and wider workforce team, building capability and succession for future Games cycle

Person Specification:
• Proven ability to combine strategic leadership with hands-on planning and operational delivery of complex programmes
• Leadership and people management capability, with experience leading and developing teams
• Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into practical delivery plans, resource requirements and executable actions
• Highly developed programme and project management skills, with experience building, managing, and tracking detailed plans across multiple workstreams
• Experience applying compliance frameworks across delivery including legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including at executive/senior leadership level
• Strong communication skills, able to align diverse stakeholders around a common plan
• Strong understanding of performance sport requirements and the factors that drive competitive advantage. Experience competing or working within elite sport
• Ability to respond effectively to changing environments and operational demands
• Demonstrated commitment to fairness, inclusion, and teamwork, working collaboratively and positively to support team and organisational success
