Run by the British Olympic Association (BOA), Team GB competes at Olympic and Olympic Winter Games and other events such as the European Games, Youth Olympic Games and European Youth Olympic Festivals.The BOA’s primary purpose is to: • Select, lead and manage Team GB at Olympic and Olympic Winter Games and all International Olympic Committee (IOC) and European Olympic Committee (EOC) accredited events such as Youth Olympic Games, European Youth Olympic Festivals and the European Games, and; • Develop the Olympic Movement and promote the principles and values of Olympism in our territory of responsibility. The RoleThe Sport Engagement Manager (SEM) will be responsible for a range of National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and projects, both in the run up to and during Games-time. Along with NGBs, the SEM will also assume key relationships with other UK sporting stakeholders, including UK Sport and UKSI.Key Responsibilities• Build and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of sports, acting as the key point of contact with the sport, ensuring clear communications & information flow• Collect and co-ordinate sports specific performance intelligence and insight that will create competitive advantage in the Games environment, working in partnership with NGB Performance Directors and Team Leaders, UK Sport, UKSI and other performance experts. • Contribute to Sport Functional Area planning across BOA and Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (OCOG) run venues, ensuring sport requirements are understood, communicated and delivered • Work closely with the Games, Performance and Athlete Services teams to ensure that all needs for sports are planned and delivered to world class standards • Support the Head of Sport Engagement and Athlete Services in the planning and delivery of the Team Leader Journey, including recces to Games host cities from a sport perspective and ensure maximum benefit is gained from the content and programme • For designated sports, support and deliver against key milestones relating to their qualification including Olympic Qualification Standards (OQS), Accreditation and Selection processes• For designated sports, oversee sport-specific competition wear requirements in collaboration with the Games services and Commercial teams• During Games time, be a key point of contact for designated sports• Undertake a Games Workforce role, as required, across Summer and Winter events including Youth, European and Olympic Games, which may require extensive overseas travel and extended periods away from home• Contribute to wider sport projects and functional priorities as required• Lead specific projects as directed Person Specification• A passion for, and understanding of high-performance Olympic sport and the factors that drive competitive advantage• Confident communicator with strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills• Proven ability to plan, manage, and deliver complex projects, often balancing multiple priorities• Effective negotiator, able to influence and build productive partnerships• Highly organised, with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability• Demonstrated ability to work calmly under pressure• Demonstrates a commitment to fairness, inclusion, and teamwork, working collaboratively and positively to support team and organisational success• Experience of operating within an Olympic environment or Sporting Organisation • Must have right to work in the UKAt the heart of Team GB is our vision to unite and inspire the nation through Olympic sport.
