Job Description
Title: U21’s Performance Analysis Work Placement

Department: Performance Analysis

Based at: Blackburn Rovers Senior Training Centre, Brockhall Village, Old Langho, Blackburn BB6 8FA.

Reports to: Head of Performance Analysis

Placement length: 11 month work placement for the 2026/2027 football season (25th June 2026 – 31st May 2027).

Placement purpose: The successful student will have the opportunity to work and gain experience in all areas involving the Performance Analysis of our footballers from within the first team environment, primarily supporting our u21 analysis, as well as 1st team aspects.

The work placement will provide the successful candidate with a complete understanding of working within an elite sports environment.

Experience and development opportunities:
Daily responsibilities:
Analysis:
• To assist in the collection and coding of match-day footage.
• To assist in the collection and coding of training-day footage.
• To assist in the collection and recording of statistical data and databasing.
• To assist in the compilation of weekly reports with appropriate visual data.
• Facilitate player self analysis and reflection, team, unit and individual review sessions.
• Support loan player analysis and review.

Administration:
• To assist in the management of Match Analysis information via HUDL,
Teamworks, etc.
• To assist with the management of the Performance Analysis and training database.
• To assist in the creation of reports to assist generating individual players IDP’s.

Logistics:
• To assist with the storage of individual and team footage on HUDL.

Training and personal development:
Relevant in-house training courses throughout the year. You will be mentored by Ben Cawson, Head of Academy Performance analysis, and Jack Percy, U21 Performance Analyst - who will ensure on-going informal education and development takes place.
As you progress throughout the year and become more adept at your role, greater responsibility will be placed upon you to help further your own skills.

• Flexible on time and tasks, with the ability to adapt.
• Passion for sport and ideally football.

Skills and knowledge required:
• IT literate including Microsoft Word and Excel;
• Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders;
• Ability to perform group and individual presentations; and

Qualifications required:
To be working towards a sports/coaching or performance analysis related degree at undergraduate or MSc level.
