Job Description
INTRODUCTION

Badminton England is seeking to appoint a Chair of our new Coaching Advisory Group.

Are you ready to help shape the future of badminton coaching in England? Badminton England is on the lookout for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to chair our new Coaching Advisory Group. This is a unique opportunity to contribute at a strategic level to help steer the implementation of our Coaching Plan, which aims to support, enable, and facilitate a strong, high-quality coaching network that has the opportunity and confidence to make badminton the most inclusive and accessible sport in England.

As Chair of the Coaching Advisory Group, you'll play a crucial role in guiding our coaching initiatives and programmes, supporting coach development, and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. Your insights and expertise will directly influence key decisions on strategic planning, coach education and development programmes, and the governance of coaching.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As Chair of the Coaching Advisory Group, you will help oversee the implementation, monitoring and refinement of Badminton England's Coaching Plan, aligned to our overall Strategy, offering strategic insight, advice, and expertise on coach education, development and systems.

The role reports to the Develop & Perform Committees. The successful candidate will commence in role immediately following appointment and will support the recruitment of the wider Coaching Advisory Group, planned for launch in Autumn 2026.

The successful candidate will be appointed for an initial term of 3 years, with eligibility for reappointment for two further terms. The role involves attending at least three Coaching Advisory Group meetings per year (with potential for additional meetings as required), held in person or via Teams. The role is non-remunerated, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed as per Badminton England's policy.

We are committed to embedding inclusive practice both within Badminton England and the wider badminton community. Whilst the appointment will be made entirely on merit based on skills and experience, we strongly encourage applications from candidates from under-represented groups, particularly disabled people, diverse ethnic communities, the LGBTQ+ community and females.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

* Coaching, coach development or coaching systems
* Coaching principles and athlete development in badminton
* Data analysis, monitoring and evaluation
* Strategic thinking, communication and teamwork
