Shanaze Reade successfully defended her World BMX Champion title in Tiayuan, China, over the weekend. This makes her a double World Champion for the second year running, securing the title in track cycling with Victoria Pendleton in the team sprint back in March, as well as in the BMX discipline.
Reade dominated the field in the women’s final of the BMX World Championships, leading from the front to clinch the title and replicate her performance from last year, where she became Champion in her first season as a senior.
UK Sport caught up with Shanaze back in March after she won gold on her home track at the World Championships in Manchester. She told us about the importance of the funding she receives in allowing her to dedicate time to her sport, as well as the support team behind her success. Click here to watch Shanaze’s vodcast.
