Learning and development

Leading Self Modules

Leading Self 1: Maximising me and how I operate at my best: Date to be confirmed

Leading Self 2: Effective impact with others: Date to be confirmed

Location: Blended delivery using The Learning Arena and virtual workshop experience.

The core of the Leadership & Management Framework are the key elements that relate to leading yourself; understanding yourself, your core values and leadership style, and how to enable you to operate at your best. These modules will help you understand and explore these areas.

Who should attend?

Our learning and development opportunities are here to support the UK’s National Governing Bodies, UK Sports Institute (UKSI) and our partners to enable our high-performance community to reach its full potential on the Olympic and Paralympic world stage.

The ‘Leading Self’ modules are relevant for everyone, and which modules you access will be dependent on what is happening for you at the current time.

Key topics and benefits

Topics will include:

  • Understanding me
  • Me and my development
  • Me in my role
  • My wellbeing and energy
  • Communications with impact
  • Maximising my relationships

As part of engaging in these modules, all participants will receive access to The Learning Arena, a digital platform which aims to enable and accelerate the connection, sharing and learning of the people in the UK high performance sport community.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this experience you will be able to:

  • Understand how you operate at your best, and how this impacts performance
  • Effectively explore ways to support personal growth and development
  • Understand ways to take responsibility for your own personal health and wellbeing
  • Recognise how to maximise your role and contribution to performance
  • Increase personal impact through compelling and impactful communication
  • Build effective and sustainable relationships

What our participants have said about this experience

  • “The various tools/practices that were presented and discussed as ways to think about the topics from the session, I can see could be hugely beneficial in my development”.
  • "I feel that a lot of what I learned in the Leading Self experiences is increasing my consciousness and self-awareness, the latent value of which is crucial for my adaptability in the unfamiliar and (sometimes) uncomfortable environments I often find myself in at the moment! I don't necessarily have the balance I'd like to have at the moment, but it's right for current circumstances and now I'm more aware I can be better at shaping things going forward”.
