UK Sport has today published an updated version of the Eligibility Policy that applies to all Olympic and Paralympic National Governing Bodies in receipt of funding, which includes athletes and athlete support personnel.
UK Sport’s strategic plan sets out an unequivocal commitment to win with integrity. The Eligibility Policy was introduced in 2013 and provides a framework for UK Sport to uphold the highest ethical standards of behaviour by those in receipt of funding, including referring cases to an independent Eligibility Panel where there are alleged breaches.
Included within the update to the Policy is the ability for decisions made by the Eligibility Panel to now be published on a case-by-case basis. This would be particularly relevant where it is strongly in the public interest and helps to maintain trust and credibility in the high-performance community.
In addition, there are several new members of the Eligibility Panel. The Panel now comprises a pool of nine individuals, consisting of three independent chairs instead of one and introduces three independent members to join the three UK Sport board members.
When a Panel is called it will be made up of one member from each of these three groups. As of April 2022, the Panel’s pool of members are:
Ismail Amla (Board Member)
Annie Panter (Board Member)
Chris Pilling (Board Member)
Kwadjo Adjepong (Independent Chair)
Laura Austin (Independent Chair)
Karen Moorhouse (Independent Chair)
Jane Fylan (Independent Member)
Fiona Lilley (Independent Member)
Simon Walker (Independent Member)
