UK Sport has thrown its support behind the For the Love of Sport campaign which promotes the safe return of fans to live events.
For the Love of Sport has been developed by the Government’s Sports Technology and Innovation Group (STIG) on which UK Sport CEO Sally Munday sits.
Sports around the country have come together as part of the campaign which promotes safety advice to fans and sets out how venues are publicising they are safe.
For the Love of Sport has been launched to coincide with the return of fans to live events, in line with Government guidance, today [December 2].
UK Sport will be working with Olympic and Paralympic sports and major events sports over the coming months to share and integrate the campaign across the sector.
This will include a ‘We’re Fan Ready’ mark for sports to use within venues, reassuring fans of their commitment to providing a safe environment.
The voluntary mark will be used to show sports and events adhered to the protocols and guidance set out by the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) and Government.
Sally Munday, UK Sport CEO, said: “UK Sport have worked closely with Government to develop the guidance which has enabled elite sport to return to competition and are proud to be part of the Sports Technology and Innovation Group advising, and now promoting, the safe return of spectators to live events.
“The For the Love of Sport campaign and the We’re Fan Ready mark will play an important role as sports, grounds, venues and competitions welcome back spectators. We are delighted to be supporting the campaign and demonstrating our commitment to provide a safe environment for fans.”
