In April 2017 several allegations were brought to the attention of British Canoeing, including a number of concerns about past failings of the organisation to deal appropriately with matters that had been raised previously.
British Canoeing acknowledges the seriousness of these allegations and has agreed with UK Sport to jointly commission an independent investigation into these allegations.
The investigation commences from today (Tuesday 1 August) and the independent investigator appointed is Lance Spring, a former senior manager and police officer with the Metropolitan Police Service.
Lawrence Selby has been appointed as Chair of the investigation panel, alongside panel members Sara Fenoughty and Jane Aldred.
All of the individuals selected are independent of UK Sport and British Canoeing and have been appointed by Sport Resolutions, who are supporting the investigation.
The panel will aim to provide a report for British Canoeing and UK Sport by the end of October 2017.
If anyone wishes to provide further information in regards to the investigation they can do so by contacting Sport Resolutions by 8 September 2017 at
canoeing@sportresolutions.co.uk.
Further details about the investigation can be found in the Terms of Reference available
here.
British Canoeing and UK Sport will not be making any further comment on the investigation until the process has concluded.
