What is Winter Sports Week?

UK Sport are celebrating one year to go to the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics with #WinterSportsWeek - a seven day winter sport extravaganza!

#WinterSportsWeek will run from 6-12 February.

It will celebrate the winter sports that UK Sport invests in through National Lottery and Government funding as they target medal success at the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Each day will see a different winter sport celebrated across UK Sport’s social media channels as excitement builds around Thursday, 9 February which marks the one year to go milestone itself.

Winter sport fans are encouraged to engage with #WinterSportsWeek to help celebrate and inspire on Great Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes to further success at PyeongChang next year.

The schedule for #WinterSportsWeek will be as follows:

•             Mon 6 Feb: Short Track Speed Skating

•             Tues 7 Feb: Figure Skating

•             Weds 8 Feb: Bobsleigh & Skeleton

•             Thurs 9 Feb: One Year To Go To PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics

•             Fri 10 Feb: Ski and Snowboard

•             Sat 11 Feb: Para Ski and Snowboard

•             Sun 12 Feb: Curling

#WinterSportsWeek will also offer a behind the scenes look at the high performance system supporting our top winter sport athletes with a key focus on the cutting-edge support provided by UK Sport’s science, medicine and technology arm: the English Institute of Sport (EIS).

The EIS provides the world leading sport science, medicine, technology and engineering that make our winter sport athletes some of the best equipped and best prepared on the planet.

Through UK Sport investment, expertise and support, Great Britain is striving to deliver its best ever Winter Games at PyeongChang 2018.
