Athlete Futures: The top 10 crossover skills from sport to employment

Throughout the day of the very first Athlete Futures event, we assessed the top 10 crossover skills which athletes can transfer from the sporting arena to other areas of employment and revealed them on the UK Sport and Athlete Futures Twitter pages.

Emma Mitchell is the EIS Senior Performance Lifestyle Advisor who works with the GB Hockey Team. Emma was part of the team working the GB women’s hockey side that won gold at Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

To coincide with Athlete Futures event in Coventry on Tuesday 1st November, Emma was tasked with outlining the key reasons why businesses should hire elite athletes following their retirement.

Emma said: “Elite athletes can become a major asset in any business due to the numerous skills they develop by operating in a world class performance environment. Here are 10 reasons why I think athletes make great business people, and why companies should employ them.”
