Look Ahead to Day 7

Published 12 August 2016

In another packed day of rowing, all eyes will be on the reigning Olympic Champions Helen Glover and Heather Stanning as they look to defend their women’s pair title from London 2012. Alex Gregory, Olympics gold medallist in the men’s four at London 2012, is joined by Moe Sbihi, George Nash and Constantine Louloudis in the hunt to retain Britain’s title.

On the first day of athletics Jessica Ennis-Hill begins her defence of her heptathlon title and is joined by team-mate Katarina Johnson-Thompson in Rio's Olympic Stadium. Competing in her fifth Olympic Games, Jo Pavey goes in the 10,000m.

The drama continues in the velodrome as medals will be decided in the men's team pursuit, featuring Steven Burke, Ed Clancy, Owain Doull and Bradley Wiggins. The quartet will face close rivals Australia, as returning London 2012 team pursuit members Clancy and Burke aim to keep hold of their Olympic title.

Rio silver medallist in the 400m freestyle, Jazz Carlin, will compete in the 800m. Carlin will be buoyed by her podium performance in the 400m, which earned her a silver medal on day two, but will again come up against the USA's seemingly unbeatable Katie Ledecky.

In equestrian, London 2012 Olympic champions Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester are in action again, along with Spencer Wilton and Fiona Bigwood as team dressage comes to a conclusion. 2015 European Games Champions Amber Hill also goes in the skeet shooting.
