British Tennis has announced that Simon Timson, UK Sport’s Director of Performance, will be taking up the role of Performance Director for British Tennis effective from 1 November 2016.
Liz Nicholl, CEO, said: “UK Sport is disappointed to lose Simon’s considerable expertise, and I have no doubt that many individuals across the UK high performance system will feel the same, but we all congratulate Simon on this exciting new appointment and have no doubt that he will do a fantastic job for British Tennis.
“Simon remains committed to UK Sport in this crucial final phase of preparation for Rio, and will also see through the final phases of the detailed work he has already led towards Tokyo investment decisions that we will announce in December 2016. He will leave a performance legacy that will see us confidently transition from Rio into the Tokyo cycle.
“We are activating the search for a successor with immediate effect to ensure continued pace in the development of the UK high performance system and further medal success to inspire the nation.”
