Job Description
WLSP is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Balance Bike (Mini Wheelers) Instructors to deliver engaging cycling sessions within primary schools across West Lancashire. This role focuses on introducing young children to cycling, helping them develop confidence, balance, and fundamental movement skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver structured Mini Wheelers balance bike sessions to primary school pupils
Create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable learning environment
Set up and pack away equipment before and after sessions
Transport and safely store bikes, helmets, and associated kit
Carry out basic equipment checks to ensure safety and usability
Adapt sessions to meet the needs and abilities of different groups
Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health, and safety at all times
Represent WLSP in a professional manner within school settings

Training & Support

Full training will be provided
All necessary equipment, including bikes, helmets, and session resources, will be supplied

Requirements:

Passion for working with children and promoting physical activity
Good communication and organisational skills
Ability to work independently across multiple school sites
Access to transport and willingness to travel across West Lancashire
Ability to transport and store equipment safely
A responsible and proactive approach to safety and safeguarding

Desirable (but not essential)

Experience working with children in a school or coaching environment
Basic knowledge of cycling or physical education delivery

Contract & Working Pattern

Delivery: 5 days per week
Programme length: 12 weeks of delivery
Working hours: Typically during school hours, depending on bookings
Agreement: Delivered under a Service Level Agreement valued at £6,000 - Start - Monday 20th April or ASAP - End date 17th July

Compliance Requirements

Appointment is subject to enhanced DBS clearance
Completion of safeguarding training is required prior to delivery
