Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Freelance Bikeability Instructor to deliver high-quality cycling training to children in West Lancashire. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Bikeability courses (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3), learn to ride and balanceability to a variety of participants, ensuring they develop the necessary skills and confidence to cycle safely and responsibly.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver Bikeability training to children in accordance with the delivery guide.
• Plan and deliver Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 cycling lessons, ensuring all sessions are fun, safe, and engaging.
• Plan and deliver learn to ride and balanceability sessions.
• Conduct pre-ride checks on bikes and ensure equipment is safe for participants.
• Provide constructive feedback and support to individuals, helping them develop their cycling skills.
• Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and school staff to ensure smooth delivery of courses.
• Maintain accurate records of training sessions and participant progress.
• Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations, including risk assessments.
• Encourage a positive attitude towards cycling and road safety.
• Travel to various locations in the West Lancashire area to deliver sessions as required.
• Team members will also be required to transport bikes to and from partner schools.
Key Requirements:
• Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training.
• Experience of teaching cycling to children in a structured environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate participants of all ages.
• Passion for cycling and road safety.
• Good organisational and planning skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your schedule.
• Access to a reliable means of transport to travel between training locations.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and Safeguarding training.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
• Previous experience working in schools or community settings.
• First aid certification.
• Knowledge of local cycling routes and infrastructure in West Lancashire.
