Primary School Sport Specialist - Gymnastics (Tues-Fri Term Time) Organisation West Lancashire Sport Partnership Salary £110 + per day 38 x weeks of the year Location West Lancashire Contract type Fixed Term (Full time) Closing date 30 July 2025 Interview date 31 July 2025 Job Description To plan and deliver high-quality gymnastics provision across primary schools in the West Lancashire Sport Partnership area. The role involves direct delivery to pupils, supporting and upskilling school staff through hands-on CPD, developing gymnastics curriculum plans, contributing to assessment of pupil progress, and leading engaging after-school gymnastics clubs.Key Responsibilities:1. Curriculum DeliveryPlan and deliver engaging and progressive gymnastics lessons to pupils in KS1 and KS2, in line with the National Curriculum and the needs of individual schools.Adapt sessions to suit different age groups, abilities, and facilities.Monitor and assess pupil progress, supporting schools in maintaining records of physical development.2. Staff CPD & SupportProvide on-site, hands-on CPD to school staff, modelling good practice and coaching teachers to deliver gymnastics with increased confidence.Develop and share gymnastics lesson plans, risk assessments, and teaching resources.Offer ongoing feedback and support to ensure long-term sustainability of gymnastics delivery within schools.3. After School ClubsOrganise and deliver fun, inclusive, and skill-based gymnastics after-school clubs.Encourage participation from a wide range of pupils and support talent identification where applicable.4. Communication and ReportingLiaise regularly with school PE leads, the School Sport Coordinator, and Partnership Manager.Maintain accurate registers, planning documents, and progress reports.Attend team meetings and contribute to the wider goals of the West Lancashire Sport Partnership.Person Specification:Essential:Gymnastics coaching qualification (UKCC Level 2 or equivalent).Experience of working with primary school-aged children.Strong understanding of the PE curriculum and how gymnastics fits into it.Experience in delivering or supporting CPD for teachers.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Full UK driving licence and access to transport (role involves travel to multiple schools).Desirable:First Aid and Safeguarding certificates (or willingness to obtain).Experience in assessing or tracking pupil progress in PE.Awareness of inclusive practice and SEND adaptations in gymnastics.
