Job Description
Job Summary
To deliver key elements of the Weightlifting Wales strategy for engaging the strength community and bringing people
together. Building a strong, inclusive strength community by expanding opportunities for clubs, delivery centres and academies.

Role and Responsibilities
- Support a growing network of clubs and academies to foster safe, motivating, and positive environments to increase participation from local communities.
- Help new clubs establish themselves, assisting with licensing, funding and community programme development.
- Strengthen club pathways, guiding licensed clubs in progressing to delivery centre or academy status.
- Recognise club and academy contributions, valuing the role of clubs, academies and volunteers in raising the sport’s profile and expanding participation.
- Support the development of club coaches, enhancing skills and opportunities at the grassroots level.
- Share best practices, in coaching and club management.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of high-quality, community-focused programmes.
- Support national campaigns promoting the value of weightlifting, para powerlifting, and strength training.
- Showcase the benefits of strength training for diverse and underrepresented groups.
- Aid in the research to refine programmes in line with best practices and participant needs.
- Support delivery centres and academies to engage with local organisations.
- Embed equality and diversity across all programmes.
- Uphold the organisational values of Weightlifting Wales.
- Support the performance team to deliver a long term, athlete-centred pathway.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will have experience, knowledge, skills, and attributes in the following areas:

Knowledge
• Training methodology and practice at a club level.
• Development pathways and club progression models.
• The benefits and principles of sport for community health and inclusion.

Experience
• Coaching and supporting at grassroot levels, particularly within a club environment.
• Delivering inclusive, community-focused programmes.
• Working independently and collaboratively within a performance-managed or development team.

Skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with local authorities, schools, and clubs.
• Strong ICT and organisational skills to manage and deliver projects and plans.
• Ability to inspire, support and motivate community coaches, volunteers, and participants.

Attributes
• A good team player who builds trust and confidence with coaches, clubs, partners, and lifters.
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to share learning and support others.
• Integrity, high ethical standards, and a commitment to inclusion and equality.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience
• Welsh language speaker.
• Experience of coaching weightlifting and Para Powerlifting.
• Knowledge of community funding applications and club licensing processes.

Additional requirements
A Full clean driving license, Enhanced DBS and valid Safeguarding certification. Working towards a Level 2 British
Weightlifting qualification and Coach License, within 3 months.
