Job Description
Wasps FC is the original Wasps rugby club with thriving amateur senior and junior teams. We run 3 men’s amateur sides, 2 women’s amateur teams and have over 500 minis & youth players. We are also home to 2 specialist sports clinics, Middlesex County Rugby Union, an early years nursery and various other tenants. We own and manage our 24-acre site in Acton, West London.

Job details:

We are seeking an ambitious graduate looking for a career in rugby, sports or facilities management. The role will give a broad grounding in managing a sports club, sustained by business activities and the collection of member subscriptions and you’ll be reporting to the Club’s General Manager. The initial contract would be for 12 or 24 months with an extension possible. A passion for rugby, ideally with playing experience is preferred.

The role is based on site in Acton, West London. It is very important to note that the job would involve working non-standard office hours, especially at the weekends.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of the jobs that the management trainee would be involved in.

Membership & Subs
• Update prices where necessary.
• Manage the subscription process with the membership secretary and send out updates to section heads/age group managers.
Pitch and changing room usage on training and match days
• Manage usage of pitches and changing rooms by members and non-members. Send out to all age group managers at the beginning of the week and put up on the entrance board on Sunday.
• Manage venue use on match and training days, able to act quickly if there are cancellations or weather changes.
Registration, Awards days
• Co-ordinate both days; order trophies, honours ties, etc.
• Manage volunteers
Club events & festivals
• Support, encourage and help members organise events (i.e. 6 nations events, beer festivals, Middlesex festivals, breakfasts during the Lions, etc)
Rugby supplies
• Liaise with section heads and order balls, bibs, cones, trophies, medals, first aid, etc where necessary, based on current stock and budget.
Kit shop
• Manage and process kit shop orders, marketing and stock.
• Keep an up to date inventory of all kit.
Communications
• Produce and publish the annual fixture booklet
• Input all fixtures on the online calendar and website. Keep up to date.
• Keep the website up to date with news, events, etc.
• Regular posts on social media, keeping members up to date.
Volunteer liaison
• Liaise with all volunteers, notably coaches and managers, DBS manager, First aid manager, ex-players coordinator, club historian, etc.
Members' database
• Keep an updated list of all ex-players, Vice Presidents and life members. Record change of addresses, phone numbers, passed away, etc.
Liaise with rugby-related contractors and suppliers
• Samurai, Laundry, Ram, etc
Facilities
• Taking reservations (pitch use, events and festivals) and keeping calendar up to date.
Events
• Help to organise and run various events at the club (weddings, parties, etc)
• Help with the marketing (venue website, flyers, advertising, social media, forums, etc)

Starting salaries range from:
· £25,500 (2.1) - £28,000 (1st class degree) per annum
After 6 months, a bonus structure will be put into place, affording the possibility of a pay increase of approximately 10%
· 28 days holiday per year, inclusive of bank holidays.
