Contract type Volunteer Closing date 26 September 2025 Interview date 10 October 2025 Job Description About the RoleWales Rugby League, the national governing body for Rugby League in Wales, is seeking a financially focused Independent Non-Executive Director (NED) to join its Board. This voluntary role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a sport deeply rooted in Welsh culture and community.Key ResponsibilitiesAs Finance NED, you will:Strategic Financial Oversight: Guide financial operations and ensure strong internal controls.Budgeting & Planning: Lead annual budgets and multi-year financial strategies aligned with WRL’s goals.Governance & Risk: Maintain and review the Risk Register, advising on financial risk and mitigation.Audit & Compliance: Oversee audit processes and ensure regulatory and fiduciary compliance.Board Engagement: Lead the Finance Subcommittee and contribute financial insight to Board discussions.What You’ll BringQualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or senior-level financial management experience.Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management.Experience in not-for-profit, sporting, or membership organisations (desirable).High integrity, sound judgement, and collaborative leadership.Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.Commitment to DiversityWRL actively encourages applications from underrepresented groups.
