Football Coach, 3rd Team, Cambridge University Sports Club Organisation University of Cambridge Sports Service Salary £0 Location Cambridge Contract type Volunteer Closing date 21 July 2025 Job Description Cambridge University Association Football Club (CUAFC) Women’s side is a growing and ambitious club with three teams. Our 1st team competes in BUCS Midlands Tier 1, our 2nd team in Tier 3, and our 3rd team is entering BUCS in Tier 4 this season. All teams compete in an annual Varsity match against Oxford, a key highlight of the season. We maintain squad fluidity between the teams to allow for player progression and team success. The 3rd team focuses on developing players with a range of abilities, particularly those newer to competitive football but with strong potential. This larger squad of around 25 players is committed, enthusiastic, and highly responsive to coaching. It provides an excellent opportunity for a coach to shape a positive, ambitious team environment while helping raise the standard of play.We are seeking a passionate Football Coach for the 3rd team to lead and develop our University Football club.Session schedule: One training session (day TBD) and one game (Wednesday) per week. Job Purpose:To provide high-quality coaching to students of varying ability, fostering skill development, fitness, and competitive performance in football while ensuring a safe and inclusive training environment.Key Responsibilities:• Plan and deliver engaging and structured football training sessions for students of varying skill levels.• Develop individual and team performance strategies, including technical, tactical, and physical conditioning.• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including risk assessments and injury prevention measures.• Prepare students for university competitions, BUCS fixtures, Varsity and other relevant events.• Provide mentorship and motivation to students, fostering a positive and disciplined training culture.• Maintain equipment and ensure proper usage during training sessions.• Collaborate with university sports staff and club committee members to align training with club objectives.• Uphold health and safety, safeguarding and inclusivity standards, ensuring a welcoming environment for all participants.• Adhere to club policies and procedures.• Stay up to date with coaching best practices and relevant qualifications.Person Specification:Essential:• Experience coaching football.• Strong communication, motivational and leadership skills.• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in sports coaching.• Ability to plan and deliver progressive training programs.• Commitment to inclusivity and student development.Desirable:• Experience coaching football to young adults or university-level athletes.• A track record of increasing participation and retention of members.• Recognised football coaching qualifications (e.g., Level 1 or higher).• A valid first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one).What we offer:• An induction to the role • Opportunities for relevant development with the possibility of monetary support to complete a training certification over the summer• Support to understand and adhere to relevant club policy• A regular point of contact to support you • The chance to make a meaningful impact How to apply Please send your CV and short covering letter outlining your relevant experience to womens.president.cuafc@gmail.com by the 21st of July.
