Job Description
The Opportunity

The UK Sports Institute have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Strength & Conditioning Coach to work as part of the Paralympic Specialist Service provision in Sheffield. This role will work as the named practitioner for Para Badminton and we are accepting application across 0.5 and 0.6 FTE.

A snapshot of the role

This role is part of the UKSI Paralympic Performance Support Service (PPSS). It offers an exciting opportunity to join a team of specialist multi-disciplinary practitioners working collaboratively to support Paralympic World Class Programmes (WCP). This role will work predominantly with the Para Badminton WCP as the Named Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Coach and will also provide S&C support to other Paralympic WCPs in the North region with occasional national support at UKSI sites, sport training camps/venues and athlete home based training centres as required to meet the service needs of the PPSS.

The successful candidate will lead physical preparation strategies, provide consistent and direct coaching support, and contribute to the athletes' holistic performance journey. This includes designing and implementing strength and conditioning programmes informed by scientific principles, including adaptation, periodisation, peaking, tapering, and rehabilitation. Working at the Sheffield Performance Centre, you will work in an integrated way with coaches and physiotherapists to support athlete readiness and availability alongside physical progress towards sport-specific performance goals.
We’re looking for someone who brings both expertise and empathy to the table. You’ll need to build strong, trusting relationships with athletes, adapt quickly to challenges, and work seamlessly with the wider team. Staying calm under pressure and taking a thoughtful, long-term approach to development are vital.

If you’re detail-driven, thrive on collaboration, and have a real passion for learning and pushing boundaries, this role is made for you.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At the UKSI we aspire to have a workforce that is diverse and representative of all sections of society, not only by characteristic but by thought and perspective. We believe a diverse workforce enables growth and creates a sustainably inclusive workspace for all employees.
