UK Sport can confirm that GB Squash will partner with Sport Org, a specialist multi-sport organisation established to strengthen the UK high performance system.
The move comes as squash prepares for its historic Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028 and represents an important step in creating the environment needed for athletes and support staff to maximise the opportunities presented by the Games.
Sport Org delivers world class programmes on behalf of National Governing Bodies. It has been established to help sports benefit from shared services, operational support and high performance expertise, enabling them to focus more of their resources on preparing athletes to perform at their best when it matters most.
Sport Org aims to provide greater stability for athletes, increase access to specialist expertise and ensure investment is used as effectively as possible to support success on the world stage.
In conjunction with this move, the GB Squash Committee has been finalised, will be chaired by Charlie Cowen and contain three independent members.
As preparations for LA intensify, Nigel Donohue has been appointed Performance Lead for the programme, while Stuart Crawford has been named GB Head Coach, a role he will combine with his ongoing responsibilities with England.
Simon Morton, Deputy CEO and Director Events, Sporting System & External Affairs, said:
“Squash's inclusion in the Olympic Games presents an exciting opportunity for athletes, coaches and the wider sport. By partnering GB Squash with Sport Org, we are creating an environment that gives athletes access to the expertise, support and stability they need to thrive, while ensuring our investment is used as effectively as possible in the pursuit of success at LA 2028.”
Charlie Cowen, Chair of GB Squash, said:
“GB Squash is excited to partner with Sport Org as we get ready for the incredible opportunity that is LA 28. We believe that Sport Org's expertise in preparing athletes in the Olympic programme will complement GB Squash as we look to support our athletes to perform their best in Los Angeles."
Nigel Holl, CEO of Sport Org, said:
“We are delighted to be able to work in partnership with GB Squash to support the ambitions of helping athletes to qualify for and represent Team GB with distinction in Los Angeles in 2028. Squash joins the Sport Org family and whilst it will be a very focused programme between now and the games, we look forward to collaboration with other sport programmes and the shared learning and insight as a result. We have a collective opportunity to make a real mark as squash makes its Olympic debut, and Sport Org is honoured to have a significant role to play in that endeavour.”
