Job Description
The Opportunity

The UK Sports Institute have an exciting opportunity for a full time, Senior Paralympic Network Strength & Conditioning Coach to work within Performance Rehabilitation.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a world-leading performance rehabilitation service within the new Para Rehabilitation Network. The role will value your ability to build strong connections with athletes and apply high-quality strength and conditioning principles in a rehabilitation environment. You will work daily as part of an interdisciplinary team alongside physiotherapists, sports physicians, psychologists, biomechanists, physiologists, nutritionists, and medical administrators, supporting Paralympic athletes from a diverse range of sports to return to performance following injury.

Since 2022, Performance Rehabilitation has supported the rehabilitation and return to performance of more than 150 athletes, working alongside their sport performance support staff. Of these athletes, 39 have represented Team GB or ParalympicsGB in Paris and Milano-Cortina, including 15 Olympic and Paralympic medallists.
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach to support athletes targeting LA 2028 and the French Alps 2030. As part of the new Para Rehabilitation Network, the role will help establish exciting performance rehabilitation services across Loughborough and Sheffield. The postholder will predominantly support Paralympic athletes from a diverse range of sports, working closely with athletes, coaches, practitioners, and performance support teams to meet individual rehabilitation and return-to-performance needs. We are open to considering full-time or part-time candidate(s) who can help shape and deliver this developing service and travel within the UK as required.

A snapshot of the role

Working with the Performance Rehabilitation Clinical and Human Performance Leads, the postholder will help develop, test, and refine a new diagnostics and rehabilitation service for the north and central regions. Delivered collaboratively with the Senior Para Rehabilitation Network Physiotherapist, the service will support athlete reconditioning and preparation for performance after injury. As part of the new Para Rehabilitation Network, the role will help establish the service across Loughborough and Sheffield, with a primary focus on Paralympic athletes from a wide range of sports. The postholder will work autonomously, lead aspects of physical preparation, and contribute to decision-making in complex rehabilitation cases.

Alongside athlete-facing delivery, the role will include managing sport stakeholder relationships, leading and supporting projects and initiatives, and providing specialist advice within the Performance Rehabilitation Team and across the wider High-Performance System (HPS).
