Job Description: A snapshot of the role

As the UK Sports Institute enters an exciting new phase in its strategy, we are seeking an outstanding Head of Finance to play a pivotal leadership role at the heart of the organisation.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the financial future of UK Sports Institute, providing strategic leadership to a high-impact finance function at a time of significant change and ambition. You will set the direction for financial management, governance, and insight across UKSI, ensuring the organisation is financially resilient, accountable, and positioned to deliver maximum value for money.

Working closely with the Managing Director, Director of Business Services, Board, and senior leaders, you will be a trusted strategic advisor — translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insight that informs critical decisions. You will lead the development and delivery of UKSI’s financial strategy, oversee high-quality reporting and assurance, and ensure robust controls that support both innovation and integrity.

Beyond the numbers, this role is about leadership and influence. You will champion a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and collaboration, positioning finance as a true strategic partner across the system. Through thoughtful analysis, strong judgement, and credible challenge, you will help shape decisions that underpin the long-term success and sustainability of UKSI.
