Job Description
Independent Members
Group Data, Digital & AI Committee

Up to Four Appointments

Help shape the future of high-performance sport through Data, Digital and AI.

UK Sport is seeking to appoint up to four independent external experts to join its newly established Group Data, Digital and AI (DDAI) Committee. The Committee will act as a formal sub-group of the UK Sport and Institute Board, providing oversight, challenge and expert advice on the delivery of an ambitious Data, Digital and AI strategy designed to transform high-performance sport across the UK.

This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in helping Olympic and Paralympic sport harness the power of data, digital technologies and artificial intelligence to drive innovation, improve decision-making and support world-class success on and off the field of play.

About the Role

As an Independent Member, you will provide strategic insight, independent challenge and expert guidance to support the successful delivery of the DDAI strategy. The Committee oversees progress, investment decisions, risk and assurance arrangements, governance, ethics, security and the practical application of data, digital and AI capabilities across the high-performance sporting system.

Working alongside Board members and senior executives from UK Sport and the UK Sports Institute, you will help ensure the strategy delivers meaningful impact across performance, people, growth and productivity.

Who We Are Looking For

We are keen to attract individuals with senior leadership experience and recognised expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Data and analytics
• Digital transformation and technology delivery
• Artificial intelligence strategy, adoption and governance
• Data governance and information management
• Cyber security and digital risk
• AI ethics and responsible innovation
• Public sector technology leadership
• Digital products, platforms and services

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have operated at Board, Executive or C-suite level and who have led significant organisational or system-wide transformation enabled by data, digital technologies or AI.

What You Will Bring

Successful candidates will demonstrate:
• A passion for Olympic and Paralympic sport and the opportunities created by Data, Digital and AI.
• Senior leadership experience and a proven track record of innovation and transformation.
• Strong judgement and the ability to analyse complex information and make sound, evidence-based recommendations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across organisational boundaries.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
At UK Sport, we are committed to building inclusive leadership and governance structures that bring together people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We believe better decisions are made when a broad range of voices and experiences are represented around the table.

We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are particularly interested in attracting individuals whose lived experience, professional expertise or career journey may bring additional insight and challenge to our discussions.

We are committed to providing an accessible recruitment process and will make reasonable adjustments wherever needed to ensure candidates are able to participate fully in the appointment process.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to help shape how the UK's high-performance sporting system uses data, digital technologies and artificial intelligence to create competitive advantage and sustainable success.

The Committee is chaired by Ismail Amla, a member of the UK Sport and Institute Board and an experienced technology leader, and brings together Board members, executives and independent experts to guide one of the most significant transformation programmes across the sporting landscape.

Terms of Appointment
• Four-year term of appointment.
• Eligible for consideration for a further four-year term.
• Committee meetings held throughout the year, supported by UK Sport officers.
