Job Description
Job Title: Senior Coach Developer
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 a year
Reports to: Coaching Team Lead
Location: Flexible with ability for UK wide travel

Main Purpose:
Provide expert leadership in coach learning, workforce development, and National Governing Body support, while also directly delivering high-quality development activities and interventions.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and deliver high-quality learning, development and support for the
coaching workforce

Typical activities:
Work with internal and external partners to shape the offer for different coaching sector audience groups – coaches, coach developers, tutors, assessors and verifiers, managers

Drive standards of coaching and coach development practice through effective partnership work with National Governing Bodies

Support the leadership of targeted programmes for coaches in the talent pathway and high-performance sport, including overseeing effective recruitment and management processes of Associate Coach Developers

Specifically, develop and deliver modern and bespoke learning and development opportunities, including but not limited to:
Live learning events
Digital learning offers
Communities of practice
In-situ one-to-one coach and coach developer support

Contribute to wider organisational plans and priorities for digital learning platforms and communities

Champion and embed UK Coaching products, services and values across the coaching landscape

Maintain own CPD to support credibility as an expert.

2. Gather and share insight that informs coach learning and coaching practice,
coach development practice, and impacts on the diversity of the coaching
workforce

Typical activities:
Working collaboratively with colleagues to support the delivery, promotion and implementation of professional coaching standards

Gather and collate meaningful insight from different coaching sector audience groups

Use and generate research and insight to continuously evolve coaching and coach development practice

Support National Governing Bodies with insight that informs and impacts on their work to diversify the coaching workforce

Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning and development offers

Success measures:
Successful completion of own work plans and KPIs

Development and delivery of high-quality coaching workforce support

Evidence of quality contribution to the UK Coaching EEDI strategy and Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan

Evidence of quality contribution to diversifying the coaching workforce across the coaching pathway

Feedback from partners, coach development workforce and coaches.

What we are looking for:

Knowledge, skills and expertise
For the role to be performed effectively the role holder will have senior level specialist/technical skills, qualifications and experience in this work area, along with a broad range of management and professional skills and expertise to manage a work area, team and budget. This specifically includes:

Expertise in a specific area of coach development relating to focus areas within UK Coaching’s strategic and operational plans: equality, equity, diversity and inclusion (EEDI); talent and performance

Proven ability of directly supporting coaches and the coach development workforce

Expertise in learning, learning facilitation, mentoring, coaching and educational programme design

Experience of quality assuring coach development and managing people effectively

A thorough understanding of current coaching, teaching, learning and people development strategies, and can explain when, how and why these may be most effective in practice

Leadership and development
Manages teams; motivates, develops and coaches others to achieve high level performance OR is a technical expert who is recognised as a lead authority at national/international level, focusing on delivering results through the highest level of technical coaching/specialist guidance.

Shaping direction
Understands the goals and objectives of the organisation and contributes to the development of strategic plans. Develops/delivers programmes of work within an annual plan and budget. Takes account of the external environment and interdependencies with other work areas. Maximises resource usage and removes obstacles preventing others from achieving their goals.

Recommends resolutions for complex and/or high impact issues that require a detailed assessment and a deep understanding of the specific work area. Analyses data and concepts from a range of practical and theoretical perspectives. Supports the collation of quantitative and qualitative data for research projects where necessary. the Constructively reviews and challenges ways of working and implements changes in order to enhance performance in own results area(s).

Decision making
Makes decisions that impact on the delivery of plans and objectives within specified work areas. Accountable for managing budgets and resources in own work area(s). Work is largely unsupervised and in line with business objectives.

Communicating and influencing
Demonstrates advanced communication skills in persuading or advising colleagues, partners and stakeholders in a wide range of circumstances, relevant to own work area. Draws on experience and/or specialist expertise and acts as a role model to others. Develops and maintains relevant professional or business relationships on behalf of the organization.
