Job Description
Host City Manager

Location: Wembley Stadium, London (with travel across the UK & Ireland)

Contract: Fixed-term | September 2026 – Summer 2028

About UK & Ireland 2028 Limited

UK & Ireland 2028 Limited is the local organising committee responsible for planning and delivering UEFA EURO 2028 across the UK & Ireland. Working on behalf of the five Football Associations, we collaborate closely with governments, host cities, stadiums and delivery partners to ensure the tournament is delivered safely, inclusively and to world-class standards.

About UEFA EURO 2028

The UEFA European Championship is one of the world’s biggest sporting events. In 2028, it will take place across the UK & Ireland, bringing significant operational scale and requiring close coordination between host cities, stadiums, government partners and UEFA.

The Role

We are looking for two Host City Managers that will work alongside the UEFA EURO 2028 Host Cities to create a world class tournament experience for ticket holders, fans and communities.

The Host City Managers will coordinate tournament requirements between UK&I 2028 departments and Host Cities. They will provide support and guidance to local authorities and local stakeholders to deliver the ambitions for the tournament, facilitate integration with the wider tournament planning where required, and ensure compliance with UEFA’s technical requirements.

The successful candidates will have outstanding stakeholder relationship skills with a solutions-focused approach. They will have experience delivering major international events and be able to work confidently in a dynamic and complex multi-agency environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead UK&I 2028 contact for a portfolio of host cities, providing support and guidance in the planning and delivery of a world class tournament
• Work closely with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to deliver the vision for the Host City programme, including the UEFA Festival and match day city operations, in line with the tournament operational requirements, legal obligations and public funding conditions
• Liaise internally with UK&I 2028 functional areas including Safety & Security, Mobility and Medical to ensure integrated city operations leading to a successful tournament delivery
• Ensure Host City Concepts are completed to the agreed specifications and timelines, working collaboratively with Host Cities to continually develop and refine operational planning
• Work alongside UK Sport to ensure robust financial planning for each Host City with any change control processes followed to accommodate agreed changes in Host City deliverables
• Work with the Head of Host Cities and other Host City Managers to ensure coordination across all Host Cities managing common risks, issues and appropriate solutions
• Represent UK&I 2028 departments at relevant Local Delivery Structure meetings, updating internal colleagues on key outcomes and actions
• Implement the Host City Project Plan tracking progress across the cities, and providing departmental reporting
• Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet the changing priorities
• Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained

What we’re looking for

Essential experience and skills:

• Experience of delivering major international events
• Experience of project delivery with a local authority, ideally in an events environment
• Exceptional skills in building constructive relationships and communication channels individually and collectively with external stakeholders
• Experience of collaborating on complex multi-agency projects
• Proven track record working in dynamic environments including effective management of risks and issues
• Ability to work collaboratively to effectively resolve complex issues across stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Please see the attached role profile for full details on our careers site at: https://careers.uki2028.com/job/867836

We also welcome

• Transferable skills from different sectors or career paths.
• Experience gained through voluntary, community or non-traditional routes.
• Candidates who may not meet every requirement but demonstrate potential.

Why apply?

We offer a competitive salary (plus benefits of 25 days holiday, contributory pension, Private Medical Insurance etc), which coupled with the opportunity to be part of one of the biggest sporting events to ever take place across UK & Ireland we think makes for an exciting place to be!

Where is the role based?

Our head office is based at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London, however, depending on your role, you may be required to travel across the UK and Ireland to our 9 Stadiums and 8 Host Cities, with some roles being based in those locations.

Because we are an event delivery organisation, time together in person is essential for effective planning and collaboration.

In 2026, most colleagues work at least three days a week from Wembley.
In 2027, this will increase to 3–4 days a week as operations intensify.
In 2028, during tournament delivery, full-time onsite working will be required.
Everyone is welcome

We’re hiring for excellence through inclusion

We’re building a skilled, values-led workforce that reflects the diversity of the UK and Ireland. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and identities — and we don’t expect everyone to have followed a traditional path to get here.

We're happy to accommodate any requests for reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process. Please email any requests to careers@uki2028.com. We’ll work with you to ensure you can perform at your best.

All employees will be subject to a DBS check appropriate to the nature of the role and in line with our commitment to providing a safe and inclusive working environment.
