About UK & Ireland 2028 Limited

UK & Ireland 2028 Limited is the local organising committee responsible for planning and delivering UEFA EURO 2028 across the UK & Ireland. We work on behalf of the five Football Associations and in close partnership with governments, host cities, stadiums and communities to ensure the tournament is delivered to world-class standards.

About UEFA EURO 2028

The UEFA European Championship is one of the world’s biggest sporting events. In 2028, it will take place across the UK and Ireland, bringing significant operational scale and requiring close coordination between host cities, stadiums, government partners and UEFA.

The Role

UEFA EURO 2028 is one of the largest and most high-profile sporting events ever hosted across the UK and Ireland. Delivering it successfully requires clear, trusted and inclusive communications that connect with diverse audiences at scale.

As Head of Communications & Campaigns, you will provide senior leadership across public campaigns, stakeholder and public communications, and media relations for UK & Ireland 2028 Limited. Working closely with UEFA and delivery partners, you will shape how the tournament is understood, experienced and celebrated across the UK and Ireland.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for setting direction, building capability and delivering high-impact communications that reflect our values and deliver tangible benefit to communities.

What you’ll be responsible for

You will lead the development and delivery of a UK & Ireland-wide Communications & Campaigns strategy aligned to tournament objectives, partner priorities and UEFA requirements.

This will include:

Designing and delivering high-profile, public facing campaigns, including community-focused initiatives.
Leading integrated planning across campaigns, communications, media relations, content and stakeholder engagement.
Setting and overseeing the media and reputation management approach, including proactive engagement and robust issues management.
Coordinating communications across multiple partners and jurisdictions, ensuring consistency while respecting local context.
Overseeing brand, content and digital activity in line with UEFA brand guidelines.
Building and leading a high-performing Communications & Campaigns team and managing agency partners.
Establishing clear governance, evaluation frameworks and KPIs to measure impact and continuously improve delivery.
What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced communications leader who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery in a complex and multi-partner, project environment.

You will bring:

Senior leadership experience in communications and campaigns within a high-profile or publicly visible organisation.
Experience designing and delivering large-scale public-facing programmes involving multiple stakeholders.
Strong capability in media relations, reputation management and handling sensitive or high-scrutiny issues.
The ability to translate strategy into clear plans, messages and actions.
Confidence advising senior leaders and working collaboratively across organisations.
Sound judgement, organisation and the ability to prioritise effectively.
Experience of major sporting events or international events is advantageous but not essential. We welcome candidates from a range of sectors — including public service, infrastructure, culture, media or large-scale programmes — who can demonstrate relevant, transferable leadership experience.
