Job Description

Tyne Amateur Rowing Club is seeking an ambitious and passionate Talent Coach to lead the next phase of development for our junior pathway as one of British Rowing's Partner Academies.

This newly created full-time role represents a significant investment in the future of rowing in the North East. Working alongside British Rowing, local schools, Newcastle PE and School Sport Service, Northumbria University Boat Club, RGS Newcastle and a committed coaching team, the successful candidate will help expand participation, identify talented young athletes and support their progression through regional and national performance pathways.

The role combines participation, outreach and performance development. Initially, there will be a strong focus on growing Tyne Youth Rowing, strengthening school partnerships and increasing junior participation. As the programme develops, the emphasis will increasingly shift towards athlete development, junior squad management and progression through British Rowing's performance pathway.

The successful candidate will receive ongoing support and mentoring from British Rowing, access to coach development opportunities, and the chance to help shape one of British Rowing's newest Partner Academies.

About Tyne ARC

Founded in 1852, Tyne Amateur Rowing Club is one of the oldest rowing clubs in the United Kingdom and has a long tradition of developing rowers at every level of the sport.

Today, the club is home to thriving junior, senior and masters squads and is the training base for Northumbria University Boat Club and RGS Newcastle. As a British Rowing Partner Academy, Tyne ARC is building a clear pathway from first experience through to regional and national performance.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality coaching to junior athletes.
Expand participation through Tyne Youth Rowing, Learn to Row and school partnerships.
Support athlete progression into regional and national performance pathways.
Develop and support junior coaches.
Build strong relationships with schools, community organisations and British Rowing pathway partners.
Contribute to the long-term sustainability and growth of the programme.

Essential Requirements:
British Rowing Level 2 Coach (or equivalent) or willingness to achieve.
Experience coaching junior athletes.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Commitment to inclusive coaching and athlete development.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Enhanced DBS and safeguarding training (or willingness to obtain).
