Job Description
Trafford Leisure is seeking an experienced Interim Project Manager to support the delivery of a new padel court development at Altrincham Golf Course, bringing a new and growing sport to the heart of the local community.

Pay: Market-aligned day rate / fee – open to PAYE or self-employed / consultancy arrangements

Location: Trafford Leisure Support Office, Altrincham Golf Course.

Contract: 12-weeks

Hours: 1 day per week (flexible)

Start date: Immediate start preferred

About Us:

Trafford Leisure is a community focused leisure operator and Community Interest Company, delivering sport, physical activity, and wellbeing services on behalf of Trafford Council. Our purpose is simple and powerful: to inspire and create opportunities for the people of Trafford to move more every day and live longer, healthier, happier lives.

We exist to benefit our communities, not shareholders. As a social enterprise, we balance financial sustainability with social impact, reinvesting into facilities, programmes, and partnerships that improve health, reduce inequality, and strengthen community wellbeing across Trafford’s diverse neighbourhoods.

Working through our customer facing move brand and our evidence led Trafford Leisure brand, we deliver inclusive leisure centres, community programmes, health and wellbeing initiatives, and strategic partnerships that support behaviour change at scale. Movement is central to everything we do, because we believe it is a catalyst for better health, stronger communities, and positive life outcomes.

We are an ambitious organisation with a clear social purpose, committed to inclusion, innovation, and working collaboratively with partners, communities, and colleagues for the benefit of our Trafford community.

The Role:

Trafford Leisure is seeking an experienced, delivery-focused Interim Project Manager to lead the installation and successful operational launch of new padel courts at Altrincham Golf Course, subject to planning approval (application already submitted).

We are particularly keen to engage an experienced interim or self-employed Project Manager who can make an immediate impact on an active, time-sensitive project.

This is a part-time role (1 day per week) on a 12-week contract basis. The position has been created to ensure continuity and maintain momentum on a live project following a recent change in project management resource, with longer-term arrangements currently being explored.

This is a key delivery role, focused on driving progress, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring a smooth transition from construction through to full operational readiness. The role will suit an experienced Project Manager who is comfortable working independently and adding value quickly within a live environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead end‑to‑end delivery of the padel court installation project
Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver on time and within budget
Manage project plans, milestones, risks, issues, and reporting
Lead the transition from construction into operational readiness
Support the setup of programming, systems, and processes for launch
Work closely with Trafford Leisure teams to integrate the new facility into existing operations
Work closely with Trafford Council teams to ensure a collaborative approach.
About You:

Proven project management experience, ideally within leisure, sport, or construction environments
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Able to work independently and drive progress with limited weekly input
Experience of facility launch or operational mobilisation is highly desirable
Highly organised, proactive, and solutions focused
Able to start at short notice and comfortable working in a fast-paced interim capacity
