Contract type Fixed Term (Part time) Closing date 19 June 2026 Interview date 22 June 2026 Job Description OVERVIEWAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join Blackheath Rugby Club as a therapist to support the Head of medical in providing care to the senior mens squad ahead of the club’s return to Level Two rugby for the 2026/27 season. Following promotion to the RFU Champ Rugby for the first time since 1999, the club is looking to expand and strengthen its medical provision to the team.Founded in 1858, Blackheath is the oldest open rugby club in the world, with a rich history and strong identity within the game. Based in south-east London, the club is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Sports Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the medical team within an exciting and progressive performance environment.This role presents an excellent opportunity for a therapist looking to further develop their career within level two domestic rugby, working as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting players across training and matchday environments.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• Assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning for players• Provision of pitch-side medical cover for training and matchdays for 1st XV and Club XV• Effective communication between players, coaches, and the wider performance team• Responsible use of medical equipment and consumables• Ensure medical provision reflects current best practice, including concussion management and CPDrequirements• Maintain accurate medical records and clinical governance standards• Undertake any other duties reasonably required as directed by the medical leadESSENTIAL CRITERIA• Degree qualification in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation• Registration with an appropriate governing body (HCPC, BASRaT, SST etc.)• PHICIS Level 2/3 qualification (or willingness to undertake)• Commitment to evening training sessions and weekend fixtures• Strong communication and organisational skills• Experience in MSK / sports injury therapy• Competent IT skillsDESIRABLE CRITERIA• Experience working within semi-professional/professional rugby or contact sports• Experience working within a team-sport environment• Comfortable acting as the primary medical contact for players, coaches, and club management How to apply APPLICATION PROCESS Interested candidates should submit their CV and covering letter to physiotherapy@blackheathrugby.co.uk by the closing date, below.
