Job Description
The WRU Equality Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group is established to provide external advisory support to the WRU by

promoting and enhancing EDI across rugby and regularly reviewing the WRU Crys I Bawb Strategy (‘One Wales Strategy’) to ensure its goals and objectives are met
providing independent advice and oversight on EDI initiatives, offering strategic guidance, insights, and monitoring progress on all EDI related matters
challenging EDI goals and issues, formulating solutions and sharring opportunities, ideas and best practice to help the WRU achieve its EDI Strategy outcomes.
This advisory group will be responsible to the WRU’s Chief People Officer

Closing Date: 29 October 2025

Remuneration: This role is on a volunteer basis, and you will not be paid for your time as a volunteer, but you may receive reimbursement for specific, agreed expenses and allowances in line with the WRU’s allowance framework.

Location: Hybrid

Time Commitment: It is anticipated that the time commitment for this role will be approximately one day every 3 months, including preparation and attendance at meetings which are held in person and virtually. The group may meet more frequently if determined necessary in order for the Group to discharge its duties effectively.

Term: Initial term of 2 years

As part of the appointment process all candidates will be required to complete a Fit and Proper Persons Attestation and are subject to any further background checks deemed necessary.

The Person

Good communication and listening skills
Ability to engage and work collaboratively and a proven track record of building strong relationships.
Ability to devote the necessary time to the role
High levels of integrity and the ability to act as an ambassador for the WRU
Practical experience of successfully developing and implementing ED&I plans with varied stakeholder groups.
An understanding and experience of engaging with underrepresented groups, including but not limited to ethnically diverse communities, low socio-economic groups and/or individuals with disabilities
An understanding and experience of engaging with the LGBTQ+ Community
An understanding and experience of engaging with young people
An understanding and experience of working in growing women’s and girls’ involvement in sport and a belief in its potential to grow inclusively in Wales.
The Role

We value diverse perspectives and lived experiences and are committed to continue to achieve our goals set out in our Crys I Bawb EDI Strategy . We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities and especially encourage applications from individuals with lived experience of inequalities in disability sport, women and girls’ rugby, LGBTQ+ communities, ethnically diverse communities, or low socio-economic groups.

Provide valuable informed insight from underrepresented communities in Wales through professional expertise and/or personal experience
Review and consider any EDI matters that apply to Welsh Rugby
Support and regularly monitor, and review the delivery of the WRU Crys I Bawb Strategy
To help identify and raise awareness of issues of concerns and highlight areas of good practice in relation to EDI matters.
Provide professional advice and guidance on organisational approaches to embedding EDI
Building on existing stakeholder relationships and developing new organisation networks
Identify key equality issues and support the delivery of effective solutions to ensure compliance with the law and best practice.
WRU Requirements

The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver's License is desirable. This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
