Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE

• Position Type: Full time
• Location: London office. This is a hybrid role and so regular attendance in the office will be required alongside remote/ home working.

The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Commercial department is responsible for developing and managing the organisation’s commercial portfolio, including partnerships, sponsorships, and member benefit opportunities. The team works closely with internal stakeholders across communications, events, and member services to maximise the value of commercial relationships and drive revenue growth for the Association.

The department operates as a team of five professionals and is responsible for identifying market opportunities, securing and activating partnerships, and supporting major PFA events such as the PFA Awards, Fans’ Player of the Month, and Pre-Season Training Camps.

This Commercial Executive role will report directly to the Commercial Director – Partnerships and Fundraising and the Director of Partnerships and will support them in managing existing relationships, developing new commercial opportunities, and delivering on partnership KPIs. This is a hands-on role providing exposure to a wide range of commercial activities and key PFA events.

The Commercial Department plays a critical role in leveraging the Association’s brand and assets to build sustainable revenue streams while ensuring value for both commercial partners and professional footballers. The team balances strategic thinking with practical delivery, combining relationship management, commercial acumen, and creative problem-solving to maximise the impact of every partnership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PFA Commercial Partners – Management of existing relationships in the PFA commercial portfolio while developing new Commercial partners and sponsors, working closely with the PFA communications team and commercial partners on marketing and social media and wider member benefit opportunities
Market Research and Prospecting - Conduct market research across the football and sports industry to identify trends, opportunities and potential partners of the PFA. Work internally with stakeholders across the different PFA assets and programmes to identify commercial opportunities
Event Management – Coordinate and manage the commercial component of a suite of event opportunities through the season for prospective and existing partners
PFA Awards, PFA Fans’ Player of The Month and Pre-Season Training Camps – assist with managing the various commercial aspects of these major PFA assets and moments - working with sponsors/PR/ media and clubs to increase awareness and commercial benefit to both our partners and the PFA
Management support – Including data analysis, research, meeting preparation, creation of commercial decks and proposals

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Essential Skills

• Experience of account management and partnership rights delivery.
• Ability to manage partner requests to steward effectively and ensure continued partnership health and growth.
• Experience in Partnerships / Account Management or Sports Marketing.
• Demonstrable experience building excellent working relationships and dealing with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
• Experienced in developing and delivering against key partnership KPIs.
• Excellent organisational skills, ability to seek solutions and create opportunities.
• Demonstrable ability to work and deliver under pressure.
• Excellent organisation, communications, time management skills and collaboration skills
• Values & respects others, builds strong relationships, collaborates.
• Ability to manage multi-faceted deliverables.
• Experience in developing and delivering campaign strategy.

Desirable
• Experience of working in a commercial role in the sports industry or sports marketing agency.
• Strong presentation and reporting skills.
• To bring new and innovative thinking and ideas to the Commercial Department.
• Commercial awareness, ability to plan and implement a commercial strategy, proactive with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in commercial contracts involving rights negotiation and delivery.
• Adapts quickly to new opportunities, new challenges and changing priorities.
• A passion for football, with an understanding of the wider environment and landscape around the sport.
• Additional spoken language skills.
