We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategically minded individual to join our team, playing a key role in overseeing financial governance across the league. This pivotal position involves analysing club financial submissions, monitoring compliance with cost controls and sustainability thresholds, and supporting the implementation of evolving financial regulations.

You'll contribute to maintaining high standards of governance by ensuring timely financial reporting from clubs, preparing documentation for governance panels, and assisting with UEFA Women's Club Licensing compliance. The role also supports the ongoing development of financial policy, scenario planning, and strategic modelling to promote long-term sustainability across the league. As a central point of contact for clubs on financial matters, you'll collaborate closely with internal teams, UEFA, the FA, and other stakeholders, providing insight and recommendations to leadership while helping to shape the financial future of the women's game.

What will you be doing?

Club Financial Oversight:

Analyse and review club financial submissions, including requirements for participation agreements and financial regulations in the competition.
Monitor compliance with financial regulations, including cost controls and sustainability thresholds.
Conduct analysis and provide regular reporting on financial health and risk status.
Support the development and implementation of enhanced financial regulations as the league evolves and the game continues to professionalise.

Governance and compliance:

Ensure all clubs meet league financial requirements, including the timely submission of mandatory financial returns.
Prepare evidence and reports for financial governance panels, working within league governance structures and legal team as required.
Track club ownership changes, investment transactions and operational structures that may impact compliance.
Assist with the financial compliance of UEFA Women's Club Competitions' Club Licensing process.

Policy and Strategic Insight:

Contribute to the review and evolution of the league's financial governance rules, aligned with wider football regulatory trends and specific needs of the women's game.
Assist in modelling and scenario planning for league-wide financial initiatives, including revenue distribution frameworks.
Monitor the impact of league policies on club behaviours and sustainability.

Stakeholder Management:

Act as a point of contact for clubs on financial governance matters
Close collaborations with internal colleagues as well as football stakeholders, UEFA, and the FA.
Provide insight and recommendations to league leadership, board committees and working groups.
Support external engagements with regulatory bodies and strategic partners
Execute additional tasks as required to meet WSL Football's changing priorities
Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and well-being can be maintained.

What are we looking for?

Essential for the role:

High attention to detail and commitment to integrity
Proactive and solution-focused with sound judgement
Collaborative approach
Understanding of financial challenges in football and a passion for the women's game
Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and deliver outputs
Ability to create presentations and present to a wide range of key stakeholders, including communication of complex financial issues to non-financial stakeholders
Strong Financial analysis and reporting skills, qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA
Experience of working in a football club, governing body or commercial rights holder
Audit/compliance and/or financial reporting background

Beneficial to have:

Familiarity with club licensing and financial fair play regimes.
Experience of working in a football club, governing body or commercial rights holder.
Data literacy and proficient in tools such as Excel, Power BI or financial systems.
