Job Description
The Brownlee Foundation was established by Olympic triathletes, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, to inspire children to be active and encourage regular participation in sport. To achieve this aim, The Brownlee Foundation delivers non-competitive and inclusive mini triathlon events to primary school children enabling them to have a fun, positive experience trying out the sports of swimming, cycling, running and triathlon. In 2026, 17 events were delivered across the UK with over 17,500 children participating.

Purpose of the Role
The Events Manager is responsible for helping to manage the Brownlee Foundation’s events across the UK and supporting the wider operations of the charity.
Primarily, this role ensures the smooth running of the Brownlee Foundation’s primary school events, making sure that the preparation, delivery and follow-up of the events maintain the high standards expected.

Key Responsibilities
1. Event Management
• Venue liaison to make sure correct dates and facilities are booked out
• Ensuring all equipment is maintained and stored appropriately
• Order and coordinate pre-event deliveries to both storage unit and individual venues
• Managing the registration and bookings process for schools
• On-site management on event day; help oversee the setup, record accurately any changes made, resolve issues, ensure smooth running of the events
• Making sure that all health and safety aspects meet high standards including safeguarding, risk assessments and event safety plans


2. Communication and Relationships
• Act as the primary contact for school liaison
• Maintain school contacts database
• Build strong working relationships with School Games Organisers, Active Partnerships and other sports providers in each area
• Ensure good working relationships with our partners and sponsors
• Manage our supplier relationships ensuring correct items are ordered in time for the events

3. Event Team and Volunteer Management
• Manage event team availability and coordinate accommodation bookings and transport
• Ensure Event Team Information documents are up to date and maintained correctly
• Checking of event team expense forms ensuring accuracy
• Maintain volunteer database and manage volunteer recruitment

4. Reporting
• Keep accurate records of numbers throughout the entire event process (registration, booking, attendance)
• Ensure data management from events (non-swimmers and non-cyclists) is accurately recorded and processed
• Keep accurate records of any incidents or changes required at events
• Manage feedback process with schools and volunteers following the events (feedback forms, case studies)
• Provide updates to leadership team throughout the year of progress, challenges and successes.

5. Wider Operations
• Help with any general administration tasks as and when required
• Manage the bowling night fundraiser with responsibilities including marketing, invoicing and raffle prizes
• Manage the bike giveaways following the events

Essential Skills and Experience:
Experience working in events
Passion for introducing young people to the benefits of physical activity
Desire to learn and develop alongside a charity with big ambitions
Passion for delivering faultless events with a children-centric focus
Well-organised with multi-tasking skills and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work to strict deadlines and be calm under pressure
Full UK Driving Licence and willing to drive a van

Desirable Skills and Experience:
Keen interest in sport and being active
Personable and confident in social situations
Experience working with volunteers
Previous experience driving a van
