Initially formed as Heaton Norris Rovers, the Club officially became Stockport County in 1890 after the County Borough of Stockport and have been based at Edgeley Park since 1902.The team currently competes in Sky Bet League One, the third tier of the English Football League, after winning the 2023–24 Sky Bet League Two title.Role OverviewWe are seeking an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Academy team. As a Lead Academy Physiotherapist, you’ll play a pivotal role in Diagnostics, Injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation for our B-team/U21 squad. Working under the Academy Head of Medical Services, you’ll:Key Responsibilities:• Assist with leading, managing and the development of the Academy’s physiotherapy programme in alignment in line with the Performance Plan.• Assist with ensuring effective delivery of a high-quality physiotherapy service in conjunction with performance disciplines across all academy phases • Providing assessments and diagnosis of musculoskeletal injury for the B team/U21 squad.• Assist with the planning and delivering of individualised rehabilitation programmes and injury prevention programmes to maximise player availability in conjunction with the rehabilitation coach.• Day-to-day medical delivery and management for the B-team/U21 squad.• Drive injury and illness prevention strategies as part of a collaborative Medicine and Performance Department. • Provide match-day medical cover (home & away) for our B-team/U21 squad.• Collaborate with performance and coaching staff in a multi-disciplinary team.• Maintain up-to-date medical records and contribute to evidence-based practice.• Support the medical injury and illness audit.• Assist across the age group categories of the academy.• Work efficiently alongside the multi-disciplinary/performance team.• Assist with regular CPD of academy staff including trauma scenarios.• Uphold club policies on safeguarding,Essential:• BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy CSP & HCPC Registration.• FA Level 5 ATMMiF.• 3+ years’ experience in elite sport.• Strong clinical skills in MSK injury management and rehabilitation.• Excellent communicator, collaborator and demonstrable experience of working within an MDT. • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, competitive setting.• Experience of supporting senior and youth academy athletes.• Enhanced DBS certificate.Desirable:• MSc in Sports Medicine or appropriate fieldBenefits:• Competitive salary• Discount on SCFC retail products• Discount of SCFC season or match by match tickets• Access to online discount system perk box• Opportunities for professional development and growth• Be part of a dynamic and exciting team• The chance to contribute to the success of a historic football clubStockport County Promotes equal opportunities in employment and we positively welcome applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.We will screen all applicants and select candidates whose skills and experience seem to meet our needs.
