We are deeply passionate about the grassroots game across Staffordshire. We are committed to making it accessible to everyone who wants to be involved, whether as a player, coach, volunteer and everyone who works with us and for us. Our mission is to support Staffordshire Football in creating safe, inclusive environments where individuals can pursue and achieve their football aspirations.

This new role is vital in developing and supporting the growth of our football workforce and will work specifically to increase the numbers of females working in grassroots football in off-pitch roles. Our current voluntary workforce is strong, is very experienced and has a varied skillset however we need to ensure the right opportunities are available for females to volunteer, along with ensuring the right environment and roles for the upcoming generations of female volunteers in the game.

As grassroots football continues to develop and with more females playing the game than before, we need to grow the female volunteer base to enhance the profile of volunteers and role models alongside ensuring our clubs, leagues and facilities are supported as much as possible. Exciting changes are on the horizon for young people in the game, therefore ensuring volunteers are in the right place to support this growth is essential for the future.

We’re committed to ensuring volunteers have the right support and guidance in place and to help them feel confident and needed in their roles. By doing so, we’ll ensure that new volunteers feel welcome and inspired to stay involved for the long term.

It’s a challenge we’re ready for, and one we’re determined to succeed in.

Key Objectives
As our Volunteer Coordinator (Female Growth), your work will directly support our vision to Support, Develop, Unite and Protect grassroots football across Staffordshire.

Work with England Accredited Clubs & Leagues to recruit, retain, develop and reward female volunteers.

Assist clubs to establish effective Volunteer Officer roles and inclusive volunteering practices.

Strengthen pathways into the Women’s Football Pyramid (Tier 5 & 6) and Women’s National

Engage Communities and Partners
Work collaboratively with community groups, education providers, youth organisations and faith groups to widen access to volunteering opportunities.

Ensure delivery models reflect community motivations, needs and barriers.

Deliver High Quality Learning & Development Programmes
Coordinate delivery of FA and Staffordshire FA training pathways, including:
- Females into Volunteering events
- FA Club Maker, Run Football modules
- Your Game programmes

Provide guidance, signposting and mentoring support.

Ensure Alignment with FA Strategy and Safeguarding Standards
Contribute to the delivery of the FA National Game Strategy and Staffordshire FA Business Strategy.

Maintain strong alignment with national volunteer development priorities.

Embed equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding across all work.

Deliver Excellent Volunteer Support
Provide high quality customer service to volunteers across FA systems (e.g., Events, WGS, Matchday, Full-Time).

What will you need?
This role is about developing people and strengthening grassroots football across Staffordshire. It’s for someone who understands what volunteering represents: growth, opportunity, and the future of grassroots football.

We’re looking for someone who understands the impact a great volunteer can have on people, clubs, leagues and communities. You’ll combine your own volunteering experience, personality and emotional intelligence to get the best out of people and encourage them to take up a role within the game.

You’ll work closely with England Football Accredited Clubs, helping them align with national frameworks and deliver high-quality volunteering experiences. You’ll lead volunteer recruitment, development and leadership initiatives and grow the current number of females volunteering by over 300 by June 2028.

At its core, this role is about connection, leadership, and impact. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, champion safeguarding and inclusion, and use technology to make football more accessible and efficient.

You’ll be the person who listens, supports, and inspires. Who knows that behind every fixture are volunteers, parents, and players relying on someone to make it all work. You’ll help clubs build sustainable volunteer structures, mentor individuals, and create environments where everyone can thrive.

This role is about leadership, empathy, and purpose. It’s about making football better, building sustainable environments where volunteers can thrive. You’ll be the driving force behind programmes that improve volunteer standards, support club development, and grow a diverse, skilled volunteer workforce.

Here’s what you will need to bring:

Passion for grassroots football
You believe in the power of football to change lives and communities. You’re driven to make the game accessible, inclusive, and safe for everyone.

Leadership
You’ll guide volunteers, and clubs with empathy and expertise, empowering others to grow, learn, and succeed.

A Strategic mindset
You understand how local actions connect to national goals. You’ll plan and deliver programmes that align with wider football strategies and make a lasting impact.

Volunteering credibility
As an active volunteer, or someone who has volunteered in the past, you will bring knowledge, experience, passion and practical experience for what it takes to be a volunteer. You will bring real-world experience and a commitment to high standards.

Flexibility
This role will engage directly with volunteers across the grassroots game. Regular evening work will be required along with weekends as needed to meet the requirements of our football workforce.

Relationship builder
You’ll work with a wide range of stakeholders, volunteers, officials and parents. You know how to listen, empathise, collaborate, and build trust.

Organisation and proactiveness
You’ll manage programmes, deadlines, and relationships. You’re someone who gets things done.

Inclusivity and respectful
You value diversity and understand the importance of creating welcoming environments. You’ll champion equality and inclusion in everything you do.

Digitally confident
You’re comfortable using systems like the Club Portal and other FA tech tools. You’ll help others navigate them too, with patience and clarity.

Resilient and adaptable
Grassroots football is dynamic and sometimes unpredictable. You’ll stay focused, flexible, and positive no matter the challenge.

Full, clean driving licence
You’ll be out and about across Staffordshire, supporting clubs and communities therefore a full driving licence and access to a car is essential.

What will you be doing?
The Staffordshire football workforce is the heartbeat of the game, and your job is to help it thrive.
You’ll work closely with individuals not currently volunteering to help get them involved. You will work with clubs, leagues, education partners, the community and commercial organisations to develop new female volunteer and ensure they have a place in the game. You’ll provide high-quality, practical support that helps volunteers feel confident, capable, and valued.
You’ll also support wider club and volunteer development programmes, helping to manage behaviour, build inclusive environments, and grow the off-field workforce. These are the people who give up their evenings and weekends to keep football running and you’ll be there to support them.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring our England Football Accredited clubs have access to the tools, guidance, and support they need to deliver safe, positive football experiences across Staffordshire along with supporting wider off field services. You will work alongside our staff to deliver training, workshops and events to enhance our overall service across the game.

How to apply
This challenging role will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the function of grassroots football in Staffordshire. There are more people playing football in Staffordshire than ever before which means our support for volunteers, administrators, match officials and coaches is increasing. This role will help us continue to forge strong links with everyone involved in Staffordshire Football and further show our commitment to them. Ensuring grassroots football is played in a safe and respectful environment is key and this role will help uphold our values to see access to the game widen and to allow us to lead the game forward for many seasons to come. The successful candidate will join a fantastic team who share the same desire to provide the best football experience for all, and we are keen to find a strong leader who will be able to enhance our Volunteer development functions even further. Being efficient in your work is key for success. Being able to self-manage your time and workload to meet the needs of the game will ensure you are successful. Managing deadlines, multiple contacts and maintaining a grip on technology will ensure you are happy and effective in the role. We are keen to recruit a committed, conscientious, and ambitious person who is passionate about grassroots football and who is looking for an exciting challenge to thrive in this role. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service with communication skills being key to help influence and provide innovative solutions to enhance our game.
