Job Description
Milton Keynes Dons Football Club is committed to developing talented young players within a safe, supportive and high-performance environment. Our Academy is dedicated to helping players maximise their potential both on and off the pitch, preparing them for successful careers in football and life beyond the game.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Academy leadership team as Academy Head of Player Care.

The Role
The Academy Head of Player Care will lead and oversee the delivery of the Academy Player Care Programme across the U9–U21 age groups, ensuring players receive outstanding support throughout their Academy journey.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Player Care and Life Skills Programme that supports player wellbeing, safeguarding, education, transition management and personal development. The role will also contribute strategically to the wider development of the Academy through membership of the Academy Management Team (AMT) and Technical Board.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed individual who believes in developing well-rounded young people alongside talented footballers.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop the Academy Player Care Programme across the U9–U21 age groups.
Design and deliver a comprehensive Life Skills and Player Wellbeing Programme.
Support players and families through key transition points, including scholarships, professional contracts and player release.
Promote the mental, emotional and personal wellbeing of Academy players.
Build positive relationships with players, parents, schools, host families and external agencies.
Lead the Player & Parent Voice Programme and Academy Alumni Programme.
Work closely with the Academy Safeguarding Lead and Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure the highest standards of player welfare.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, EPPP and football governance requirements.
Contribute strategically as a member of the Academy Management Team and Technical Board.
Coordinate educational workshops, support services and development opportunities for players.

About You
Essential Criteria
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Experience working with children and young people.
Strong understanding of player wellbeing, welfare and pastoral care.
Ability to build positive relationships with players, parents, staff and external partners.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Ability to contribute strategically within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Desirable Criteria
Experience working within a professional football Academy or elite sporting environment.
Knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).
Relevant safeguarding qualifications.
Relevant qualifications in mental health, wellbeing, player care or pastoral support.
Experience within an educational, pastoral or player support role.
