Academy Physiotherapist Organisation St Helens RFC Salary To be discussed Location St Helens, Merseyside Contract type (Full time) Closing date 28 September 2025 Job Description St Helens R.F.C. is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Academy Physiotherapist to join the men’s performance pathway. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Physiotherapy (BSc/MSc) and possess a current IMMOFP/ATMMiF/PHICIS Level 3 pitch-side qualification.This role focuses on the care and management of academy and reserve players, delivering evening injury clinics and providing pitch-side medical cover during training and matches. You will work closely with the Scholarship programme and the Men’s First Team Medical Department to ensure best practice standards are maintained across the pathway.Key Responsibilities - * Injury Management – Lead assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of academy players.* Rehabilitation Support – Collaborate with the Scholarship Physiotherapist to optimise player recovery and reduce time away from play.* Return to Play – Develop and deliver evidence-based rehabilitation programmes to facilitate safe, gradual returns to training and competition.* Injury Prevention – Contribute to the creation and implementation of screening and injury-prevention strategies to promote player welfare.* Pitch-Side Cover – Provide evening and weekend first aid and emergency medical cover during training sessions and fixtures, maintaining current ATMMiF certification.* Collaboration – Communicate effectively with the Men’s First Team Medical Department to ensure unified medical care and shared learning across the pathway.* Record Keeping – Keep accurate, up-to-date, and compliant medical records in accordance with professional and club policies.* Education & Relationships – Develop positive relationships with players, parents, and coaches, and offer education on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and long-term health.* Professional Development – Engage in and attend the club’s in-service training and CPD programmes while maintaining professional qualifications and a structured CPD portfolio.Essential Requirements - * BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy.* HCPC/CSP registration* IMMOFP/ATMMiF/PHICIS L3 pitch-side qualification (or willing to complete within 6 months)* Proven knowledge of injury management, rehabilitation, and injury profiling within a sporting setting.* Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with players, parents, coaches, and staff.* Understanding of adolescent/academy athlete development in a performance environment.* Organised, adaptable, and willing to work evenings and weekends as necessary.* Dedication to continuous professional growth and contributing to CPD programmes.Desirable Attributes - * Experience working within an academy or youth development setting.* Familiarity with data management systems and performance monitoring tools.* MSc in a relevant discipline.* Evidence of a well-structured CPD portfolio.* A proactive approach and growth mindset, with an ability to contribute to ongoing improvements within the medical department.
