Job Description
About Sport:80

At Sport:80 we love and understand sport. We participate, we compete, we coach and we watch sport on a daily basis. We've managed amateur teams, led professional sports clubs, delivered major sporting events and worked at governing bodies of sport.

We have combined this passion for sport with another passion of ours — technology. Every day we use our expertise and understanding of the power technology holds, and apply it to make a difference in the world of sport. We believe that by harnessing the transformative power of technology we can deliver solutions that support a sustainable future for sport.

Our business was founded, and is run from one of the country's greatest sporting cities — Sheffield. Although we now work with a community of sports organisations that spans the globe, we are proud to be 'Made in Sheffield'.

Sport:80 was founded to help. To help sports organisations fulfil their potential. To help more people enjoy the benefits of sport. To help create a stronger future for the industry we are so passionate about.

---

Client Services - Delivery

Sport:80 is a leading platform provider for National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and sporting organisations. We deliver modern, configurable technology that powers membership management, event registration, licensing, and more — helping sports organisations focus on growing their communities rather than managing administration.

We work with some of the most prominent governing bodies in the UK and USA, and our Platform is trusted by hundreds of thousands of athletes, coaches, and officials. As we grow, we're looking for talented delivery professionals to join our team and help us onboard new customers successfully.

---

The Role

The Project Delivery Manager is a critical hire for Sport:80 as we scale our customer onboarding capability. This is a dual-focus role: you will be responsible for delivering structured, well-managed onboarding projects for new Sport:80 customers - including complex, large-scale implementations running concurrently - while also contributing to the broader development of our project delivery practice.

You will own the end-to-end delivery of Sport:80 Platform implementations, working closely with customers, development, QA, and other internal colleagues to ensure each project is delivered on time, to scope, and to a high standard. Some of our customers are large, multi-faceted organisations with significant technical and operational requirements; you will need to be equally comfortable navigating stakeholder complexity as you are managing detailed project plans.

This is an excellent opportunity for a project manager who is passionate about customer outcomes, comfortable working in a fast-moving SaaS environment, and genuinely committed to continuous improvement - not just delivering projects, but making each one better than the last.

---

Key Responsibilities

Customer Onboarding & Platform Implementation

- Lead end-to-end delivery of Sport:80 platform implementations for new customers, from project kick-off through to go-live and handover to the Customer Success team

- Manage complex, large-scale customer implementations involving multiple workstreams, integrations, and a broad range of stakeholders - bringing structure and clarity to projects of significant scope and scale

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders both internally (development, QA, commercial, and leadership teams) and externally (customer project sponsors, IT leads, operations, senior decision-makers, and third-party integration partners)

- Define and manage project plans, milestones, and delivery schedules, ensuring projects are scoped clearly and progress is tracked consistently

- Manage a portfolio of concurrent customer implementations at any one time, balancing competing priorities across projects and maintaining momentum on each

- Act as the primary point of contact for customers during the implementation phase, building strong working relationships and managing expectations throughout

- Facilitate key project meetings including discovery sessions, configuration workshops, UAT reviews, and go-live readiness checks

- Proactively identify, assess, and log project risks and issues throughout the delivery lifecycle, ensuring they are visible to the right people at the right time

- Work collaboratively with internal and customer teams to develop and execute mitigation plans for identified risks, taking ownership of resolution and following through until risks are closed or accepted

- Escalate risks and blockers promptly and clearly, providing stakeholders with the context and options needed to make informed decisions quickly

- Coordinate internal resource across development, QA, and support teams to ensure customer commitments are met

- Manage third-party integration workstreams, working with external partners and vendors to define requirements, agree timelines, and ensure deliverables are met

- Platform configuration using forms and spreadsheets, working directly within the Sport:80 platform to set up and configure customer environments as part of the implementation process

- Ensure all go-live criteria are met before handover, and produce clear, concise project documentation throughout delivery

Project Delivery Practice

- Contribute to the development and improvement of Sport:80's delivery methodology, templates, and tooling - treating these as living assets that should evolve as the team learns and grows

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project data in our delivery tools (monday.com), ensuring visibility for the wider team and leadership

- Provide regular status reporting to internal stakeholders, flagging risks and dependencies proactively

- Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the delivery team - regularly reviewing completed projects to identify what worked well and what could be done better

- Maintain a feedback loop between delivery, development, QA, and commercial teams, ensuring that recurring themes from customer implementations inform how Sport:80 builds and delivers its platform

- Actively seek out opportunities to streamline and improve the onboarding experience for customers, reducing friction and shortening time-to-value

- Embrace the use of AI tools to help build internal tooling, automate repetitive workflows, and improve delivery efficiency

- As the team grows, support the onboarding and mentoring of new delivery colleagues

---

Skills & Experience

Essential

- Proven experience in a project management or delivery management role, ideally within a SaaS or technology environment - including demonstrable experience managing complex, large-scale projects with multiple workstreams and stakeholders

- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with proven experience carrying a portfolio of concurrent projects

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - confident leading meetings, managing expectations, and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels

- A structured, methodical approach to project planning and risk management - with the ability to identify risks early, develop practical mitigation strategies, and see them through to resolution

- Experience working with project management tools (e.g. monday.com, Jira, Asana, or similar)

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where processes are still being shaped

- A customer-first mindset with a genuine commitment to delivering quality outcomes

- A demonstrable commitment to continuous improvement - you reflect on your own work and take initiative in making things better rather than waiting to be asked

- Experience managing third-party partners or vendors as part of a wider project delivery, including coordinating integration workstreams

Desirable

- Experience delivering technology platform implementations or software onboarding projects for external customers

- Familiarity with the sports sector, membership organisations, or National Governing Bodies

- Formal project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM PMQ, PMP, or equivalent)

- Experience using monday.com as a project and portfolio management tool

- Exposure to Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies

- Experience using AI tools to support workflow automation, build lightweight internal tools, or improve team productivity

How We Work

We are a close-knit team that moves quickly and cares deeply about the quality of what we produce.

These are the principles we expect everyone at Sport:80 to embody:

- Be proactive - don't wait to be told something needs doing. If you see it, own it.

- Communicate clearly and early - especially when something isn't going to plan.

- Treat our clients like partners - their success is our success.

- Be honest about what you know and don't know - no one expects you to have all the answers, but we do expect you to seek them out.

- Embrace the tools available to you - including AI - to work smarter and deliver better outcomes.

- Document your work. Verbal agreements and tribal knowledge are not sufficient in a growing team.

- Contribute to making Sport:80 better - share ideas, flag what isn't working, and take ownership of improvement.

This job description will be reviewed periodically and may be updated to reflect changes in business priorities or team structure. Any material changes will be discussed with the post-holder in advance.
