Contract: Work Placement Student

Duration: June 2026 - June 2027

What is the role?

The sport science team are looking for six work placement students to support the full-time sports science staff across the men’s & women’s 1st team and academy teams in the delivery of cutting-edge sports science support.

You will be fully integrated within the respective inter-disciplinary team and will underpin the daily roles and responsibilities of the Sports Science team. Under the guidance of an assigned mentor, you will be exposed to the application of performance development principles in a professional sport setting including, but not limited to: daily monitoring and testing, databasing and reporting data, delivery of field and gym-based sessions, the delivery of late-stage rehabilitation, and overseeing of nutritional and recovery strategies.

Throughout the placement you will earn opportunities to develop job specific skillsets, including coaching delivery, programme writing, interpreting data, presenting and sharing insights, reflective practice, working effectively as part of a team, and utilising current technology (inc. Catapult GPS, VALD testing, Power Bi).

This placement MUST form part of the overall degree programme for you to be considered.

Essential Qualifications (including certifications):

Studying for a BSc in Sports Science or equivalent – student must have a mandatory year-long placement (sandwich year) as part of their degree.
Essential Skills:

Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic.
Knowledge of field and gym-based training.
Experience coaching in sport.
Applied knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
