Situated in the south east of Somerset we currently have 2 mens teams and a substantial minis and youth section. Our Rugby club believes in the core values of the RFU and as a club we feel that there is a duty to help the local community through rugby.Our youth section covers various ages from 4 to 12 years of age, meeting on every Sunday with matches played on various weekends. As part of the youth section we encourage all members and parents to get involved as much as possible. Whether this be coaching on the weekends, helping out at the Saxons kitchen or even our various community nights such as bonfire night, Somerstock or Christmas lights switch on. Our 1st team plays in level 9 of the RFU pyramid and our 2nd team acts a social side for those looking to keep fit, have fun and enjoy the sport. As always we believe rugby should be enjoyed in a safe, positive and friendly manner.Job DescriptionSomerton RFC are looking for a 1st Team Head Coach for the 2025-2026 season. The coaching position requires an individual to attend two training sessions a week on Tuesday and Thursday at our ground in Somerton approx 2 hours per evening, we would also require the individual to attend both home and away matches on Saturday. We are looking for an individual to lead the 1st team in preparation for matches and act as the influential figure in the players’ lives. This is an exciting, rewarding and highly active role within the club at all levels. We expect this individual to be dedicated to promoting respect, teamwork, sportsmanship and enjoyment of rugby.What you needTo be successful we are looking for the Head Coach to carry a recognised coaching certification or qualification with relative experience. However, we believe you will need self motivation, enthusiasm and passion for the role. We would also require the individual to be able toProven experience in sports coaching, preferably at a competitive level.Strong understanding of the sport's technical aspects and coaching methodologies.Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes.Experience in educating individuals or groups in sports-related contexts is highly desirable.Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating leadership qualities.organise teams and selection from the club through our whatsapp and spond community.What you can getDepending on experience and qualification levels you can expect renumeration between £350-£750 pm for 10 month contract with option to renew with negotiation for expenses such as travel to games. As part of the Head Coach package there is opportunity to be involved within the mini and youth section as well as CPD through first aid and further coaching qualifications.The successful candidate would be expected to provide evidence and references from previous experience and attend an interview. Additionally the individual would need to pass DBS and basic first aid as well as comply with the clubs codes of conduct and policies.
