Job Description
Skateboard GB is the UK wide governing body for skateboarding – a sport and culture defined by creativity, individuality and belonging. Rooted in community and constantly evolving, skateboarding is as much about expression and identity as it is performance. We are proud to sit at the heart of that movement, supporting skateboarders at every level to Skate More, Skate Better.

Skateboard GB exists to serve and champion the skateboarding community. That means listening to lived experience, creating space for diverse voices, and growing the sport in ways that feel authentic, inclusive and true to its culture. These values are not peripheral - they sit at the core of our ambition and shape the future of our Board.
Over a relatively short period, Skateboard GB has achieved remarkable progress. From meaningful grassroots growth to success on the world stage, the organisation has matured quickly while staying closely connected to the communities it represents. We are now building on that progress with confidence and intent - strengthening our governance, refining our systems and creating the conditions for long term, sustainable success, without losing what makes skateboarding unique.

Following a period of reflection and organisational redesign, Skateboard GB has sharpened its focus across both Performance and Community, invested in its people, and reaffirmed its commitment to values led leadership. The Board plays a vital role in stewarding this ambition - providing thoughtful challenge, strategic clarity and support as the organisation delivers the next phase of its long term strategy and continues to grow in scale, impact and influence.

Who sits around the Board matters.

Skateboarding thrives on diversity of thought, experience and identity, and we want our Board to do the same. We strongly welcome applications from women and people from ethnically diverse and under-represented backgrounds, as well as from those who may not have followed a traditional Board pathway. If you bring insight, curiosity, sound judgement and a desire to contribute to something meaningful, we would love to hear from you.

The role – INED (General)
This appointment is about adding breadth, perspective and independent challenge to a growing and evolving Board.

We are seeking someone with prior Board or Non‑Executive experience who brings a thoughtful, inquisitive and values‑led approach to governance. Experience across areas such as organisational leadership, people and culture, workforce or organisational development, and public interest decision‑making would be particularly valuable, though we are open to a wide range of professional backgrounds.

As an Independent Non Executive Director, you will:
• Bring independent thinking and sound judgement to Board discussions
• Help strengthen governance, decision making and organisational maturity
• Support Skateboard GB as it balances growth, accountability and long term sustainability

You do not need to have worked in skateboarding - or even in sport - to add value in this role. What matters most is your ability to see the bigger picture, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute with clarity, integrity and care.

This is an opportunity to support an ambitious organisation at a pivotal moment, while remaining true to the individuality, creativity and community that define skateboarding.
