Role Overview

RunThrough is entering an exciting new phase of growth and is looking to hire a Head of Major Events to lead our southern operations.
This newly created role will oversee the operational delivery of a portfolio of mass participation events throughout the year, leading an experienced team to ensure delivery processes are maintained, events are appropriately resourced, and operational standards continue to evolve as we grow.

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in the events industry, ideally in a role such as Event Director, Head of Operations, or similar, with proven experience delivering large-scale participation events.

With RunThrough expecting more than 480,000 participants across 350+ events in 2026, this role will play a key part in shaping the future of our event delivery. The successful candidate will work closely with the leadership team on operational strategy, team development, and the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the operational delivery of major events across the southern region
Manage and support an operational events team throughout the year
Ensure event delivery processes and operational standards are consistently achieved
Oversee event staffing, logistics, and resource planning
Work closely with senior leadership on event strategy and planning
Manage supplier and stakeholder relationships across key events
Support budget management and operational efficiencies
Ensure all events are delivered safely and in line with compliance requirements
Drive continuous improvement across event operations and participant experience
Play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the RunThrough events portfolio.

What We’re Looking For

Required

Proven experience in event delivery or operations within mass participation or sporting events
Experienced working with leadership teams and managing staff
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong supplier and contractor connections
High-level stakeholder management experience
Confident leading teams at live events, including staff and volunteers
Ability to problem-solve and make decisions quickly under pressure
Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
Hands-on, proactive attitude with a willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
Ability to work on the weekends
Passionate about running and live events
Full UK driving licence (essential).
