JOB TITLE: Social Media Manager
REPORTING LINE: Head of Digital & Content
DEPARTMENT: Communications & Marketing Department

THE ROLE

We are recruiting for a Social Media Manager to lead and execute the Club’s social media strategy and manage the social media team, contributing significantly to the wider content strategy while directly owning its delivery and execution across all platforms, with a focus on innovation, growth, and exceptional supporter engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the day-to-day output of content across all social media channels in line with Rangers’ content strategy.
Contribute significantly to the development of Rangers’ content strategy, with direct ownership of social media execution
Deliver social media plans for various club projects, clearly communicating plans to stakeholders at all levels.
Manage, coach, and develop the social media team, constantly raising the standards of content creation and publishing.
Manage the execution of contractual partner posts across all channels, working closely with the partnership team to continually improve the output of partnership content
Hands-on publishing and content creation across all teams and areas of the business
Working closely with the Digital team to develop best-in-class content strategies.
Managing match rotas and workload of the Social Media team
Investigate and evaluate new social media platforms and opportunities for the club
Develop and deliver channel-specific strategies, including managing relationships with social media platforms to gain insights and best practices
Grow global follower numbers, engagement and communities on existing social media platforms, monitoring progress and reporting statistics.
Lead supporter engagement across platforms, ensuring an authentic tone of voice and fostering a strong sense of community.
Monitor and report on social media activity within the Rangers online community for the company.
Work with different club departments to meet their contractual and content needs, including but not limited to, commercial, marketing, events, partnership, ticketing, customer service, communications, content.
Work alongside the Marketing team to plan, execute, and optimise paid social campaigns, managing budgets and ensuring campaigns deliver measurable impact
Support the development of the club’s International Strategy by utilising social media platforms to drive follower and engagement growth in new territories.

Specific Accountabilities:

Producing high-quality and engaging social media content for all club channels working closely alongside club videographers, photographers and graphic designers.
Managing a social media planning schedule for all of the club’s social media platforms, in parallel with other content planning across the department.
Working closely with the club’s Partnerships and Commercial teams to create relevant, high-quality content to activate club partnerships.
Covering a mixture of men’s, women’s and Academy matches, training sessions, press conferences and other non-football club events either in person or remotely.
Track and measure social media performance against agreed key metrics, benchmarking against other clubs.
Analyse social media performance and provide recommendations for post-optimisation whilst also keeping up to date with emerging trends within social media in sport and beyond.
Monitor social media channels to identify and communicate internally any general customer queries or emerging concerns within our communities where appropriate.

THE CANDIDATE

Qualifications & Experience:

At least three to five years’ experience working within the social media industry, preferably within football, or sport
Experience managing a team of content creators and creating consistent content strategies.
Experience in planning, executing, and optimising paid social campaigns.
Proven experience developing channel-specific strategies and working with social media platforms to leverage strategic insights and opportunities
Experience using social media analytics and management tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, X Analytics, TikTok Creator Studio, Blinkfire, or equivalent, or other emerging platforms/tools.)
Graduate calibre (for example, Public Relations, Marketing, Communication or Journalism degree) or equivalent proven experience working within a similar role.
Experience with Adobe Suite (e.g. Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro) or equivalent products is desirable
An in-depth knowledge of Rangers Football Club and football in general is highly desirable.
Ability to drive is desirable.
Experience of customer service and interaction with customers online is desirable.
Experience of filming and editing content using a mobile device, or camera set up for use within social media platforms is essential.
You must be eligible to work in the UK.

Excellent attention to detail and quality standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to the dynamic demands of elite sport
The candidate will need to have excellent editorial judgement and be able to communicate clearly and quickly under pressure.
Strong analytical thinking and problem solving. Ability to spot trends within sport, digital and social media.
Excellent organisational skills, with ability to prioritise and work under tight deadlines.
