Job Description
Brief role description:
The goal of the Global Head of Retail role is to lead and optimise income generation from parkrun retail activities across all existing and future territories. This includes overseeing retail performance, managing stock liability and retail assets, developing strong supplier relationships, and setting a global retail strategy aligned with the objectives set by the Head of Commercial and Fundraising.

The Global Head of Retail is responsible for bringing together relevant parkrun departments and country/regional retail teams to support the growth, consistency and success of retail activity across the organisation, whilst acting in accordance with the Global Delegation of Authority Framework where appropriate.

Main responsibilities:
Develop and lead a global retail strategy in partnership with country (APAC, SA) and regional retail teams.

Oversee retail performance across territories (APAC Shop, SA Shop) and regions, thorough sales on the Global Shop, ensuring alignment with wider organisational and commercial objectives.

Develop revenue forecasts, sales plans and marketing strategies across all retail territories and regions.

Continually review, refine and evolve retail activity to maximise performance and support organisational goals

Provide regular sales and performance reports, including country-level insights and recommendations.

Ensure consistency and accuracy of quarterly F+A and Board reporting.

Lead the development and implementation of multiple global digital sales platforms, accommodating local market needs where appropriate

Manage the development of new product lines and retail opportunities across global territories.

Analyse sales figures, customer behaviour and market trends to inform decision-making and identify growth opportunities

Manage global supplier relationships and support territories in maintaining efficient stock control and retail operations

Encourage collaboration across territories and regions to ensure retail activity is consistently and effectively implemented.

Develop / ensure adherence to Global Ethical and Sustainability plans.

Expectations of a line managers at parkrun:

Will have regular 1:1s with direct reports.

Will set objectives for direct reports / team.

Will provide regular feedback and developmental guidance.

Will plan teams’ workload and availability.

Will play a role in recruitment and selection and work with the People & Culture team to understand the roles required.

Will cascade messages to the team as appropriate.

Will be able to assign responsibilities and authority to the right employees, taking their interests, ambitions, development and competency into account.

Will deliver any disciplinary sanctions in line with our policies and processes.

Will provide support for team members and promote health and wellbeing at work.

Essential experience requirements:
Retail back office experience, ideally in both buying and merchandising.

Managing a P&L.

Developing and managing a private label.

Sales Analysis and Forecasting.

Managing Supplier Relationships.

Budgetary Reporting to Senior Management.

Developing Retail Strategy.

Managing an online sales platform, Shopify preferred.

Supply Chain Management.

Desirable experience requirements:

Building both international and cross departmental working relationships.

Managing and developing direct reports.

Sports retail background.

Negotiation and price tendering experience.

Experience of Building a Brand.

Problem Solving: Able to detect problems, recognise important information and link various data; to trace potential causes and look for relevant details

Able to use a variety of IT systems and tools, such as google workspace.

Demonstrates high levels of discretion and confidentiality.

Demonstrates a growth mindset, with a desire to improve and learn new skills.
