Job Description: Brief role description:
The focus of parkrun UK’s Health and Wellbeing Team is to improve inclusivity, increase the diversity in participation and maximise the health and wellbeing impact of parkrun across the UK. Together with the junior parkrun Impact & Engagement Manager and lead volunteers in the West Midlands, the Outreach Officer will devise, implement and support the evaluation of Health and Wellbeing projects and campaigns across the West Midlands. The focus will be on growing and diversifying participation in junior parkrun, especially focusing on those marginalised from opportunities to take part in social, physical activity, and who may be inactive/less active or in lower states of health.

Main responsibilities:
Take the lead in developing, implementing and evaluating a programme of outreach initiatives to grow the number of junior parkrun events in areas of deprivation and increase participation amongst target demographics across the West Midlands
Keep abreast of, draw on and drive the latest innovations around outreach and engagement
Forge and maintain strong, positive relationships with local event teams and Ambassadors
Regularly share experiences and learning with other members of staff, particularly outreach officers in other area of the UK
Identify, forge and maintain strong relationships links with community and voluntary sector organisations especially those who work with target groups
Recruit and manage, if required, local volunteer ambassadors to support community outreach
Represent parkrun at meetings, conferences and other events
Facilitate research to develop insight around barriers to participation and strategies for increasing participation
Help develop resources and content to support outreach efforts
Regularly update colleagues and stakeholders on progress and sharing insight and learnings

Essential experience requirements:
Working closely and collaboratively with people, including children, or groups that are typically marginalised from opportunities to lead healthy, active lifestyles
Developing, implementing and learning from outreach activities to successfully engage marginalised groups, including piloting new interventions
Forging and sustaining strong relationships with a range of people and organisations at the local and regional level particularly across the education, activity/sports and health sectors, creating an effective model of community collaboration and outreach
Convening meetings, workshops and groups to discuss outreach activities
Confidently delivering presentations at meetings, events and conferences
Keeping accurate records of activities, and disseminating and sharing learning with colleagues and stakeholders
Knowledge and understanding of the factors that impact people’s health and wellbeing, including the wide-ranging benefits of interventions like parkrun

Desirable experience requirements:
Experience in managing volunteers
Experience in working in, or closely with, schools
Experience in integrating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion priorities into everyday work and activities
